And next week we have as guest teacher Eddie Oroyan.
Another fabulous dancer with lots of knowledge to share.

Animal Mindfulness
An intermediate/advanced contemporary class to mindfully train the brain alongside the body, to develop awareness and choice. The class will range from meditative to impulsive, but with an 'as we are, not as we want to be' approach. Tools and guiding are offered throughout the class to enable subtle and gross awareness and develop presence. The goal is to observe the animal inside, to let wild roam freely and observe and understand, to learn how decision and wildness can coexist.

Bio
Animal mindfulness. It is search for balance. After an injury in late 2014, Oroyan began a practice of meditation and observation. His performing and studies have long included animal reflex training and proper response, but his new practice has and continues to teach him curiosity and awareness of the more subtle and delicate, the empathetic. After returning to performing and teaching, Oroyan is moved to explore and share these discoveries through the stage and classroom.
Oroyan is in his fourth year with Ultima Vez, having toured and performed primarily with What the Body Does not Remember and, currently, in the production of In Spite of Wishing and Wanting. His experience spans Creach/Company, Shapiro & Smith, ARENA Dances, Zenon, Andrea Miller, and Roberto Olivan. He was a founding BLM mover and continues as Artistic Associate for company Black Label Movement and is an active choreographer. His most recent collaborations presented at American Dance Festival 2014(w/ Carl Flink) and Zürich Tanzt 2015(w/ Rakesh Sukesh). Eddie is currently developing a duet with Natalia Pieczuro.

-KEEP LOOKING-
We’ll begin with a warm-up of each body part, following a focus on qualities of movements. Work and open communication will be addressed with a partner, it will allow us to assess whether we are alert and present with yourself, people around you and the space while dancing.
Three challenges are introduced during the course:
1- How to distribute our energy throughout a set of movements, technically very challenging.
2- When to retain or let goes our body talks, switch from a quality of body to another.
3- How to be fully involved in the "DO" instead of merely reproducing forms.
4- We’ll experience the "repetition" exercise, from the acting technique of Stanley Meisner, that will be later confronted with the dance.
We will see how each movement is significant, and we will take care to be fully in the present moment while dancing.

Riding the curve
Over the course of the week, these classes concentrate on using our body as one versatile piece, in a very physical relationship with the floor. Creating structures with our limbs and curves with the body to enable creative-acrobatics, flowing in and out of the floor. We will seek to take advantage of gravity to 'ride the curve' down into the floor and use this energy to come back out, using less effort, less muscle, leaving more energy and power.
Bio
Luke Jessop fell into dance at the age of fifteen, taking an academic route from school, college and then to the University of Bedfordshire on the BA (Hons) Dance and Professional Practice course. During his final year of study in 2011, he began working with 2Faced Dance Company for the creation of In The Dust. He toured with this triple-bill around UK, the Edinburgh Fringe Festival and Bulgaria. Since January 2012 Luke has been working in Brussels with Última Vez / Wim Vandekeybus, creating and performing in b***y Looting, Spiritual Unity and Talk to the Demon as well as performing in Oedipus/bêt noir, nieuwzwart and FEAR NOT. He is currently on tour with the latest revival of In Spite of Wishing and Wanting. Luke is heavily involved in floor-based techniques such as B-boying and Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu and continually wishes to push his creativity in an effort to create and develop new movement language. He regularly teaches workshops and classes and has recently founded his own company, Ion Tribe, looking to merge dance and science.
