I'm Abel.
I'll be showcasing some of my own productions alongside some of my favorite tracks from the UK underground scene.

After seven years at the conservatory of Antwerp, this likely will be my final set as a student. Let's go out with a bang!

I have been in search of practices grounded in a present and generous sense of place. Insofar as
dance and music are concerned, I believe they are experiments against individuation, moments to
collapse the fantasy of self-containment. For me, to dance is to become permeable, to become
simultaneously farthest from and closest to oneself. I see dance as a way for the body to transform
and transform and never fossilise. I'm a co-founder of the bass-music oriented collective MESSe
BASSe. I wish the sets that I play to be complex and playful. For the tuinfeest, I would like to bring
some bass heavy influences from my favourite names. Expect some deep, persuasive percussion
— garage, dub, juke, jungle.

How do I relate?
I am a part of the whole, the whole is a part of me.
How do I relate to others, myself and the world?
fragments of memories, emotions, conversations and situations, whipped into each other like
cream
We deal with darkness in a light way, with a dose of cream

Through Smetana's music, the dance piece explores how our interconnected destinies bind us
together in a network of mutual dependence. Through their movements, the dancers invite the
audience to empathise with the joys and sorrows, the dreams and struggles of people from
different perspectives. Playing with the notion of looking through the lens of someone else. The
reminder of our shared humanity, challenges us to look beyond ourselves, to celebrate the beauty
of our differences while also recognising the common threads that unite us.
