The first time i ever held a symbol of masculinity was an Aikido sword. When it was given to me, it felt as if I was united with a part of myself. It held so many meanings for me. It was as if things made sense. AIKIDO is an art of defending oneself while protecting the attacker. It made so much sense how this can link to healthy masculinity, where men don't have to destroy and conquer. They don't have to be loud to be powerful. They don't have to prove that they are men by following patriarchy when it's not aligned with their true selves.
A man's power is in how he loves, provides & protects not only his surroundings but himself as well. A man's power is in how he gets up when he is down and in accepting himself while doing that.
Thank you to the man who handed me this sword when I needed it the most 🙂. I hope I can give that to a brother at the right time.
