This season, NDC 27 arrived with sharp minds, steady nerves, and a real love for mathematics. Every frame captures the focus, the quiet determination, and the spirit of students who gave their absolute best under pressure.
A heartfelt thank you to all the participants for joining us, and to everyone who helped run the round smoothly. Results for the next stage will be announced soon. Until then, keep an eye on the official page of 𝐍𝐨𝐭𝐫𝐞 𝐃𝐚𝐦𝐞 𝐌𝐚𝐭𝐡 𝐂𝐥𝐮𝐛 .

Mathematical induction is a crucial proof technique which, starting from step one and arriving to the conclusion, turns into an infinite sequence of statements in the form of a proof built upon a simple yet powerful principle. First, we need to prove the first case and then show that one case inevitably leads to the next.

We are pleased to present an engaging session on 𝐌𝐚𝐭𝐡𝐞𝐦𝐚𝐭𝐢𝐜𝐚𝐥 𝐈𝐧𝐝𝐮𝐜𝐭𝐢𝐨𝐧: 𝐀 𝐅𝐨𝐮𝐧𝐝𝐚𝐭𝐢𝐨𝐧𝐚𝐥 𝐏𝐫𝐨𝐨𝐟 𝐓𝐞𝐜𝐡𝐧𝐢𝐪𝐮𝐞, led by 𝐌𝐝. 𝐒𝐡𝐢𝐭𝐡𝐢𝐥 𝐈𝐬𝐥𝐚𝐦, Former 𝐁𝐝𝐌𝐎 𝐀𝐜𝐚𝐝𝐞𝐦𝐢𝐜 𝐌𝐞𝐦𝐛𝐞𝐫 and 𝐁𝐝𝐌𝐎 𝐍𝐚𝐭𝐢𝐨𝐧𝐚𝐥 𝐂𝐚𝐦𝐩𝐞𝐫 '𝟏𝟗, '𝟐𝟎. The session will explore the logic behind induction and how this fundamental technique can be used to establish mathematical truths with elegance and certainty.

Join us this 𝐖𝐞𝐝𝐧𝐞𝐬𝐝𝐚𝐲, 𝐎𝐜𝐭𝐨𝐛𝐞𝐫 𝟕𝐭𝐡 at 𝟏𝟐:𝟎𝟎 𝐏𝐌 in 𝐑𝐨𝐨𝐦 𝟒𝟑𝟏, 𝐆𝐚𝐧𝐠𝐮𝐥𝐲 𝐁𝐡𝐚𝐛𝐚𝐧 and take the first step toward mastering one of mathematics' most essential proof techniques.

𝐇𝐚𝐫𝐫𝐢𝐧𝐠𝐭𝐨𝐧 𝐁𝐮𝐢𝐥𝐝𝐢𝐧𝐠 – 𝐀 𝐋𝐞𝐠𝐚𝐜𝐲 𝐢𝐧 𝐅𝐫𝐚𝐦𝐞𝐬

For generations, Harrington stood as a constant in the equation of Notre Dame College... Within its walls were the Math Department, the dark room, the classrooms, the Chemistry Lab, and countless moments that became part of our own equations of life.

With the derivative with respect to time, some memories stayed, while some... faded away like the constant.

Time passed, generations changed, but the building stayed. At last the building itself has come to an end... with the time derivative.

The function of the building itself may have reached zero... but the area under that curve, representing the countless memories made through generations, never faded away.

Perhaps the most beautiful thing about mathematics is that while the function of an object may converge, the function of its memories may diverge.

𝐀 𝐍𝐞𝐰 𝐒𝐭𝐚𝐫𝐭 𝐟𝐨𝐫 𝐁𝐚𝐭𝐜𝐡 𝟐𝟖!

Today, Batch 28 stepped into another chapter of their mathematical journey with a life provoking session conducted by our 𝐀𝐱𝐢𝐨𝐦, 𝐑𝐞𝐳𝐚𝐮𝐥 𝐊𝐚𝐫𝐢𝐦 𝐒𝐢𝐫. The session was all about looking at life differently, from maintaining study and clubbing efficiently at the same time. Sir also discussed how to be perfect maintaining all situations in regular life.

Here are some glimpses from today’s session.

"𝐓𝐡𝐞 𝐞𝐬𝐬𝐞𝐧𝐜𝐞 𝐨𝐟 𝐦𝐚𝐭𝐡𝐞𝐦𝐚𝐭𝐢𝐜𝐬 𝐥𝐢𝐞𝐬 𝐢𝐧 𝐢𝐭𝐬 𝐟𝐫𝐞𝐞𝐝𝐨𝐦."
This freedom is especially evident when solving inequalities, where a problem is rarely confined to a singular approach; when AM-GM proves insufficient, one may seek another viewpoint, another transformation, another idea that may unveil the solution.

"𝐈𝐧𝐞𝐪𝐮𝐚𝐥𝐢𝐭𝐢𝐞𝐬: 𝐁𝐞𝐲𝐨𝐧𝐝 𝐀𝐌-𝐆𝐌," a work by 𝐌𝐝. 𝐒𝐚𝐦𝐢𝐮𝐥 𝐇𝐚𝐬𝐚𝐧 𝐒𝐚𝐦𝐢 (12714029), provides an extensive list of such methods, including cyclic, symmetric sums and homogenisation, proof by WLOG, Muirhead’s inequality, Schur, Abel’s formula and inequality, substituting expressions and the tangent line trick, followed by a series of challenging problems.

The true value of learning lies in recognising the ideas behind each problem. Once you learn not to remain trapped in a dead end, even a seemingly impossible inequality becomes an invitation to seek another way out.
