Building the Future of Something Our Own: Hands-on with the Swadheen Microcontroller

Today 17 August 2026, marked an important step forward as we hosted our technical workshop on C++ firmware development for Swadheen, powered by the in-house developed Hadi-V RISC-V CPU core.

Participants engaged in direct, hands-on sessions—configuring development environments, and testing code directly on native hardware. The active participation and technical curiosity made the day exceptionally productive.

For decades, Arduino has inspired makers and hobbyists to build things that once seemed unthinkable.

At Alpha Science Lab, we wanted to take that a step further and build our very own RISC-V microcontroller, Swadheen.

At the heart of Swadheen is our in-house developed Hadi-V CPU. Hadi-V runs as a so****re, and the complete system, including its hardware and software stack, is primarily FPGA-based and developed in-house by our team.

This 17th August, we are bringing you a hands-on session on:

C++ Programming with Swadheen Microcontroller

You will get to develop firmware for Swadheen and learn how to work with the microcontroller using your favourite C++.

But the learning doesn't stop there.

Over the following days, participants will get hands-on with Swadheen microcontroller and work on projects of their own. If you have a robotics project in mind, this is your chance to bring it to life with Swadheen.

Certificates will be provided to those who complete the full project.

We also want to acknowledge ChipMentors for supporting us on this journey and providing us with the much-needed FPGA hardware that helped make Swadheen possible.
