টেক্সটাইল শিল্পে নেতৃত্ব দেবে বাংলাদেশ
টেক্সটাইল শিল্পে বাংলাদেশের প্রধান প্রতিযোগী ভারত। দেশটির অর্থনীতিতে টেক্সটাইল শিল্পের গুরুত্ব অপরিসীম। তবে কয়েক বছর ধরে ভারতে টেক্সটাইল ব্যবসা খুব একটা ভালো যাচ্ছে না। ২০১৫ থেকে ২০১৯ সালে দেশটির টেক্সটাইল পণ্য রপ্তানি কমে ৩ শতাংশ। ২০২০ সালে এর হার দাঁড়ায় ১৮ দশমিক ৭ শতাংশ। বাংলাদেশ ও ভারত থেকে ক্রয়াদেশ বাতিল করে ক্রেতারা পাকিস্তানের দিকে ঝোঁকায় রেকর্ড গড়ছে দেশটির তৈরি পোশাক রপ্তানি। এক বছর আগের তুলনায় ৪০ শতাংশ বেড়ে রেকর্ড ২১ বিলিয়ন মার্কিন ডলার হওয়ার সম্ভাবনা রয়েছে।

একই সময় বাংলাদেশ-ভিয়েতনামের মতো সাশ্রয়ী দেশগুলো ব্যবসা করেছে আশাতীত। দেশীয় খাত সংশ্লিষ্টরা বলছেন, বাংলাদেশের চেয়ে ৩০ শতাংশ পর্যন্ত গ্যাসের দাম বেশি হলেও ভারতে টেক্সটাইল শিল্পের প্রধান কাঁচামাল সুতার দাম প্রায় ২০ শতাংশ কম। একই সঙ্গে কম ডাইস ও কেমিক্যালের দাম। ফলে গ্যাস বা বিদুৎ বিল সমন্বয় করার পরও বাংলাদেশের চেয়ে তাদের খরচ কম হবে। তবে ভারত বা পাকিস্তানে বায়ার (বিদেশি ক্রেতা) ফিরে গেলেও বাংলাদেশের পণ্যের কোয়ালিটি ভালো। পোশাকশিল্পের সক্ষমতার ওপর বায়ারদের আস্থা অনেক বেশি। এ শক্তি কাজে লাগিয়ে আগামীতে পোশাকশিল্প বিশ্ববাজারে নেতৃত্ব দেবে দেশ— এমনটাই আশা দেশীয় শিল্প উদোক্তাদের।

The word “hydro-” means “water.” Thus, studying hydrophobic and hydrophilic molecules concerns the solubility and other properties of particles as they interact with water. The term “–phobic,” originating from “phobia,” would translate into “fearful of (water).” Hydrophobic molecules and particles, therefore, can be defined as those that do not mix with water – they repel it. On the other hand, hydrophilic molecules are attracted to water.

Is Bangladesh prepared for 4IR?

Bangladesh is well situated to take advantage of 4IR. It has a growing manufacturing base, skilled manpower, and a creative entrepreneurial class. On the other side, the level of automation is still weak, the manufacturing sector is limited to garments and a few other minor industries, inadequate infrastructure and the institutions leave much to be desired. If Bangladesh wants to grab the opportunities arising from 4IR, it will need to put in place certain measures to overcome issues around accessibility, affordability, and the application of technologies in a fast-moving global environment.

Fortunately, our leadership is fully cognisant of the potential benefits of 4IR and the enormous tasks that lie ahead. The planning minister assured a gathering of business leaders that the government would provide full support for the formulation and implementation of a national strategy to make Bangladesh 4IR-responsive. The country is poised to review its progress periodically, having set specific growth targets for the years 2026, 2031 and 2041. To name a few, the country aims to graduate from LDC status in 2026, become an upper-middle-income country (UMIC) by 2031 and achieve high-income country status by 2041. In addition, there are 18 development targets to be achieved by 2030 under the UN's Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs).
