দেশের ১০টি প্রধান নদীর চারটিই নিরাপদ সীমা অতিক্রম করেছে: হুমকিতে বাংলাদেশের নদী ও পানি নিরাপত্তা

বাংলাদেশের ১০টি প্রধান নদীর চারটিই ‘সেফ অপারেটিং স্পেস’ বা নিরাপদ সীমা অতিক্রম করেছে। আর অন্য ছয়টি নদী ‘সতর্কতা’ অবস্থানে রয়েছে।

দ্বিপাক্ষিক চুক্তি থাকা সত্ত্বেও পদ্মার মতো গুরুত্বপূর্ণ নদীর ক্ষেত্রে ফারাক্কা বাঁধ চালুর পর থেকে শুকনো মৌসুমে ন্যূনতম পানিপ্রবাহ ঝুকিপূর্ণ অবস্থায় রয়েছে। ন্যূনতম পানি প্রবাহ না থাকা বা ঝুঁকিপূর্ণ অবস্থায় থাকার ‘ক্ষতিকারক প্রভাব দেশের বিভিন্ন নদী অববাহিকায় লক্ষ্য করা গেছে।

গবেষণাটি নিরাপদ প্রবাহ পরিসর ধারণা ব্যবহার করে ১০টি প্রধান নদনদী প্রবাহের ঐতিহাসিক গতিপ্রকৃতি (স্থানিক ও কালিক) এবং এর নীতিগত প্রভাব বিশ্লেষণের প্রথম প্রচেষ্টা
