Email writing is a lot like copywriting which is a huge topic in itself. However, I want to share with you some quick tips to help you write better emails that convert into sales online.

Make your emails a personal 1 on 1 style of writing : You should write your emails in a personal way as if you are speaking to one specific person. You should have your ideal target market in mind when you write your email and that will generate more responses.

Have a hook in your emails : If you’re promoting an offer related to getting traffic online, then you can mention some kind of Unique Hook about how this one traffic strategy is a free or low cost method to get visitors to your website.

Sell the clicks : Don’t sell the entire offer in your email. It’s best to get them to CLICK the link. The whole point of your email should be to sell the click. Once someone clicks the link in the email, then the sales letter or Landing page you created will do the selling for you.

Have a call to action in your emails : Tell them exactly what to do to get them to do what you want them to do. An example of a call to action is you telling them to “click here to download my free report!” or “click here to free consultation.

80/20 Content to Pitch Rule

The most unsuccessful email marketers will pitch and pitch something over and over again.
However, the most successful email marketers tend to provide more and more value to their list. Each email is NOT an opportunity to make a quick buck. Instead, they offer value to their list whether it’s through giving some kind of tips, a video, a story, or something that develops more liking/trust/connection with the list owner.

As you provide 80% of value, your list will feel more connected to you, like you more, and trust you more. This will lead them to be MORE OPEN to buying from you. After you provide 80% value to your list, THEN you want to promote something to your list about 20% of the time.

According to Chris Baggott, Marketers should avoid these mistakes while doing email marketing.
Either too personal, informal, and friendly, or—too formal,
too impersonal, with too much jargon or corporate-speak
• Too much content, too many topics, and multiple calls
to action
• Boring content, nothing compelling in the subject line or
headline
• Talking about the person or company too much, with no
regard for what’s in it for readers
• Too much hype, too many bolded or all-cap words,
aggressively calling for action with no real benefit spelled
out for readers
• Not enough compelling reason to do anything other than
scan, read, and delete . . . in some cases, no call to action
whatsoever

Remember, your email must inform, educate, entertain, and
give something of value to your reader. Otherwise, you are
taking up valuable time and energy from your readers who will
eventually delete and unsubscribe.
Your content should work to get you found on the Web, by
the strategic placement of keywords, and posting your content
on the Web
