'প্যারেন্টাল অ্যালিয়েনেশন' একটি গুরুতর সমস্যা, যেখানে বৈবাহিক সম্পর্কের একটা পর্যায়ে বা বিচ্ছেদের পর অভিভাবকদের কেউ একজন বা একটি পরিবার- সন্তানদের নিকট অপর একজন অভিভাবকের বিরুদ্ধে তাদের মন বিষিয়ে তোলে।

এর ফলে সন্তানের সাথে তাদের সম্পর্ক ক্ষতিগ্রস্ত হয় এবং সন্তানের মানসিক স্বাস্থ্যের উপর নেতিবাচক প্রভাব পড়ে।

প্রতি বছর 'পিপল এগেইনস্ট প্যারেন্টাল অ্যালিয়েনেশন' নামের একটি সংস্থার আয়োজনে একটি নির্দিষ্ট দিনে "প্যারেন্টাল অ্যালিয়েনেশন অ্যাওয়ারনেস ডে" পালন করা হয় এই বিষয়ে সচেতনতা বৃদ্ধি করতে, ভুক্তভোগী পরিবারগুলোকে সমর্থন যোগাতে এবং এই সমস্যার সমাধানে কাজ করতে উৎসাহিত করতে।

"অ্যাওয়ার বাংলাদেশ" একটি নবগঠিত সংস্থা যা বাংলাদেশে প্যারেন্টাল অ্যালিয়েনেশনের শিকার বাবা-মায়েদের অধিকার রক্ষায় কাজ করে। এই সংস্থাটি ভুক্তভোগীদের আইনি সহায়তা প্রদান, কাউন্সেলিংয়ের ব্যবস্থা করা এবং প্যারেন্টাল অ্যালিয়েনেশন সম্পর্কে জনসচেতনতা বৃদ্ধির লক্ষ্যে বিভিন্ন কার্যক্রম পরিচালনা করে।

"অ্যাওয়ার বাংলাদেশ"-এর লক্ষ্য হলো এমন একটি সমাজ গড়ে তোলা যেখানে কোনো শিশুই তার একজন অভিভাবকের থেকে বিচ্ছিন্ন না হয় এবং প্রতিটি বাবা-মা তাদের সন্তানের জীবনে সমানভাবে অংশগ্রহণের সুযোগ পায়।
