Sylhet, one of Bangladesh’s most beautiful and vibrant cities, is a spiritual and cultural heart as well as a vital economic hub, famed for its lush tea gardens, natural gas reserves, and growing tourism.

On June 15, 2022, relentless rains triggered one of the worst floods in recent memory, submerging over 72% of the Sylhet division.

In response, the Earth Identity Project, in partnership with Agile Minds Corp., Direct Fresh, JAAGO Foundation, and Thrive, came together to raise funds and provide essential supplies and medical support to affected communities.

Here’s a look at some of moments from the flood relief efforts.

EARTH IDENTITY PROJECT - Emergency Flood Relief
In mid-August 2024, devastating floods swept across Bangladesh, calling for immediate action. In response, Agile Minds Corp., in partnership with Earth Identity Project, Direct Fresh and Thrive mobilized a rapid Emergency Flood Relief initiative to support affected communities and help restore dignity during a time of crisis.

Emergency Response Timeline:
• 24 August: First relief program conducted at Comilla Zilla School
• 25 August: Strategic coordination meeting with Mr. Sami, Director, BGB HQ, securing support from the Bangladesh Army
• 28 August: Second relief distribution across five areas of Feni including Elahiganj, Dhalia Sadar, and Sonagazi, with support from Direct Fresh and Thrive, in collaboration with the Bangladesh Army
• 29 August: Hot meals served to shelters at Dalta Degree College and Jafarnagar Uttarpara Government Primary School, reaching over 280 individuals
• 31 August: Relief distributed across Fulgazi, Kohua, and North Talbaria in Feni
• 4 September: Relief operations extended to Shahrasti and Lazmipur districts
• 12 September: Final relief distribution completed in Chagolnaiya Upazila, Feni

Impact
The initiative reached over 5,500 families, touching the lives of approximately 15,000 individuals. Beyond essential aid, the effort delivered hope, solidarity, and reassurance, earning an overwhelmingly positive response from the communities served.

Set in Shahrasti, Chandpur, the Holy Care Home stands as a quiet refuge for underprivileged children, orphans and senior citizens - a place where safety, dignity and gentle care are woven into daily life.

The Holy Care Home works to open pathways to primary, secondary, and vocational education for orphans and underprivileged children and youth, providing them with scholastic support and essential training materials. It strengthens nutrition for vulnerable children and senior residents, expands opportunities for job creation and income generation, and ensures access to basic healthcare for the elderly, creating a circle of care that uplifts every generation under its roof.

On behalf of the Earth Identity Project, Director Sadia Mustari Karim visited The Holy Care Home to personally present a heartfelt donation of twenty beds. May this gift offer comfort and a touch of hope to every soul who rests within its walls.
