একবার একটি জাহাজ নষ্ট হয়ে গেলে সেটি ঠিক করতে অনেক লোক আসে, কিন্তু কেউ মূল সমস্যা ধরতে পারে না। জাহাজের মালিক খুব চিন্তায় পড়ে গেলেন- জাহাজ অনেক দিন বিকল হয়ে পড়ে আছে। জাহাজের মালিক ঘোষণা দিলেন, যিনি তার জাহাজ ঠিক করে দিতে পারবেন, তিনি যা চাইবেন, তাই পুরস্কার দেবেন।

হঠাৎ এক লোক এসে পুরো জাহাজ ঘুরে দেখে ইঞ্জিন রুমে গেলেন। সবাই কানাঘুষা করছিল- কত লোক এলো আর গেল? এ জাহাজ ঠিক হওয়ার নয়।

লোকটা ইঞ্জিনের একটা বিশেষ অংশের সামনে গিয়ে দাঁড়ালেন। ব্যাগ থেকে হাতুড়ি বের করে সেখানে তিনটা বাড়ি দিলেন। বিস্মিত হয়ে সবাই দেখল- ইঞ্জিন চালু হয়ে গেছে। মাসের পর মাস যে জাহাজ বিকল ছিল, তা এখন সচল।

জাহাজের মালিক বেজায় খুশি, বাণিজ্য আবার চাঙ্গা হবে। তিনি জাহাজ মেরামতকারীর কাছে জানতে চাইলেন, তিনি কত টাকা চান?

ভদ্রলোক উত্তর দিলেন, ১০ লক্ষ টাকা।

মালিক জিজ্ঞেস করলেন, আপনি তো মাত্র তিনটে বাড়ি দিলেন। এর জন্য বড়জোর ৩০০ টাকা চাওয়া উচিত, কিন্তু ১০ লক্ষ টাকা চাচ্ছেন কেন?

মেরামতকারী বললেন, আপনি ঠিকই বলেছেন, তিনটি বাড়ি দিতে ৩০০ টাকার বেশি চাওয়া উচিত নয়। আমি এর বেশি চাইও না, কিন্তু বাড়ি তিনটি কোথায় মারলে কাজ হবে- এটা জানার জন্য যে দক্ষতা দরকার, সেই জ্ঞান আমি বছরের পর বছর সময় ব্যয় করে অর্জন করেছি। আমার সেই দক্ষতার মূল্য ধরেছি ৯ লক্ষ ৯৯ হাজার ৭০০ টাকা!

দক্ষতা ছাড়া পরিশ্রম মূল্যহীন। প্রশিক্ষণ খরচ বাদ দিলে বাকি যে মূল্যটা নেওয়া হয়, সেটা প্রশিক্ষকের দক্ষতার মূল্য। আপনি আমি যখন নাক ডেকে ঘুমাই, তখন প্রশিক্ষক হয়ত রাত জেগে পড়ছেন!

একজন প্রশিক্ষককে অনেক সময় নিয়ে নিজেকে প্রস্তুত করতে হয়। সুতরাং আপনার মূল্য নির্ধারণী কৌশল আর প্রশিক্ষকের দক্ষতার মূল্য নির্ধারণ কখনোই এক রকম হবে না। কোনোকিছু ভালোভাবে শিখতে চাইলে দক্ষ প্রশিক্ষকের কাছেই শিখুন!
