How to Extract Texture in Photoshop 🎨🫟 1. Find a reference
Choose a rock texture photo, preferably flat and top-down for easy scaling or distortion. 2. Simplify the photo
Add a new layer filled with a slightly darker color.
Set it to Darken and merge—this reduces noise while keeping cracks visible. 3. Isolate the cracks
With the Magic Wand (W), select the light areas.
Go to Select → Inverse, then press Ctrl/Cmd + J to copy the cracks onto a new layer. 4. Apply to your painting
Drop the extracted texture on top of your work.
