Good initiatives

We can't recycle our way out of this.

To stop trashing our planet, follow the 5Rs:

1. REDUCE:

Get only what you really need. Even if it's free, but you don't need it, don't get it.

2. REUSE

Reuse packaging, clothes, and furniture all the way to rechargeable batteries.

3. REFILL

Get refillable coffee cups, water bottles, soap dispensers, toners, or even lighters.

4. REPAIR

If it breaks, don't throw it away. Fix your clothes, IT, furniture, cars, you name it.

5. RECYCLE

If you can't do 1-4, bring it to a recycling bin. It's not a panacea, but it'll do.

MOST IMPORTANTLY:

We can only do as much, as people.

The bigger part of the problem is systemic. It's the companies that are really responsible.

Waste is a design issue, and it needs to be fixed at its core - at the corporate drawing boards.

Tag your favorite company, that's actually doing something about it!

PS.: This picture also says REPLACE, but I think it applies overall - we should replace single-use items with refillables and reusables.
