What is qurbani?

To world, qurbani may seem like just the sacrifice of an animal. But to me, it's something much deeper — sometimes that touches the soul. It's not Qurbani when I haven't even looked into the animal's eyes, when I haven't touched him, fed him, or felt any connection.
How can it be called a sacrifice if my heart doesn't ache while letting go?
For me qurbani is about love.
It's about building a bond with that caw, caring for him, watching him everyday, crowning attached without even realizing it until the moment comes. And when that moment arrives, when he's taken away, and I know he won't be there tomorrow...it breaks something inside me.
That pain, that heartbreak, that's the real qurbani.
Because only when we give up something we truly love, do we understand the meaning of sacrifice.
Only the does it became an offering of the heart not just a ritual❤️‍🩹
