As part of the nationwide initiative for the excavation and re-excavation of rivers, canals, water bodies, and reservoirs to protect the environment and strengthen climate resilience, Prime Minister Tareq Rahman today inaugurated the re-excavation of Dariyarpur Dharar Khal (Bailor Khal) in Trishal Upazila, Mymensingh. 🌿
Following the inauguration, he planted a palm tree sapling beside the canal bank.
This initiative reflects the commitment to protecting water bodies, preserving biodiversity, and building a greener and more climate-resilient Bangladesh. 🌳💧

YouthNet Global joined the Inception Meeting of the IUCN-led CRIS Project, jointly implemented with the Bangladesh Forest Department and the Ministry of Environment, Forest and Climate Change (MoEFCC), focused on strengthening biodiversity conservation and ecosystem restoration in the Sundarbans.

Our Executive Coordinator, Sohanur Rahman, attended the meeting representing YouthNet Global, contributing to discussions on youth engagement, ecosystem restoration, and climate resilience to safeguard the Sundarbans and support climate-vulnerable communities.

The event was attended by Environment, Forest and Climate Change Minister Abdul Awal Mintoo and State Minister Shaikh Faridul Islam, who emphasized the importance of coordinated and multi-stakeholder action, cross-sector collaboration, and long-term restoration efforts to protect the Sundarbans.

The initiative aims to strengthen biodiversity conservation and promote sustainable management of the Sundarbans through effective ecosystem restoration, while enhancing community resilience and safeguarding livelihoods in climate-impacted areas.

Together, these efforts reflect a shared commitment to protecting the Sundarbans and advancing nature-based solutions for a resilient and climate-resilient future. 🌏
