NASA's James Webb Space Telescope created the deepest and sharpest infrared image of the distant universe and it is spectacular! Thousands of galaxies formed a cluster and the image was taken with the help of infrared light keeping the exposure for 12.5 hours.
We are looking at the galaxy cluster SMACS 0723 through the eyes of the Webb telescope. Previously Hubble telescope took this cluster's photo but Webb's image is a lot better.
The cluster is 4.6 Billion Light Years away from us and the total mass of these humongous cosmic objects makes the light bend, creating the Gravitational Lens, thus we can see further galaxies.
To compare the size of the portion on this photo compared to the universe, NASA said, "This slice of the vast universe covers a patch of sky approximately the size of a grain of sand held at arm’s length by someone on the ground."
