Burning fossil fuels for power generation, manufacturing, construction, transportation, and overconsumption is driving global warming, climate change and sea-level rise. As a result, Asha (11) (pseudonym) and her family from Shyamnagar, Satkhira, are paying the price. She carries water barefoot under the scorching midday sun. Asha said, “I have to walk 2 kilometers to collect water for my family every other day. Therefore, I can’t go to school every day. I don’t know how long I will be able to continue my studies.”
From today's report on The Financial Express:
🚩Bangladesh is one of the most climate-vulnerable countries in the world.
🚩Over 13 million people in coastal areas may be forced to leave their homes by 2050.
🚩The country faces multiple climate threats, including: River and coastal flooding, Sea-level rise, Storm surges, Droughts
🚩Each year, millions of people are displaced due to climate-related disasters.
🚩About one-third of Bangladesh lies only a few meters above sea level.
🚩If global warming continues at the current rate, sea levels could rise by up to 1 meter by the end of the century.
Renewable energy can save the earth from the destruction. Government around the world should invest on renewable energy. Every action counts, every action matters! Lets save our mother earth together! 🌱

International Zero Waste Day
On International Zero Waste Day, Bangladesh needs real solutions, not shortcuts.
That starts with refusing single use plastic and rethinking how we design our entire waste system. It means separating waste at home, organic and inorganic, so nothing valuable gets lost. Organic waste should go back to the soil through composting, while materials like plastic, paper, and glass stay in circulation.
What this really means is moving toward a circular economy, where we compost, reuse, repair, and refill instead of constantly throwing things away.
But none of this works if we ignore the people already doing the work. Waste pickers must be at the center of the system, recognized, respected, and included.
And just as important, we need to be clear about what does not work. False solutions like waste to energy and incineration do not solve the problem, they destroy resources and create new risks.
Zero waste is about protecting resources, people, and the future, not burning them away.

Unprecedentedly, Climate change is worsening water scarcity. In coastal areas, rising salinity is making water unsafe for drinking and damaging agriculture.
Access is also unequal. Many urban communities still struggle to secure clean water. Women and girls often bear the burden, spending time and effort to collect it.
Water is a basic right. Ensuring safe and equal access for all is urgent.

On World Recycling Day, we recognize the hands that make recycling possible.
Waste pickers are at the heart of our cities’ recycling systems, yet their work often goes unseen and undervalued.
From sorting plastics to managing organic waste, their contribution keeps materials in use and waste out of landfills. Composting and recycling organic waste can further strengthen this system, creating safer conditions and new income opportunities.
A truly circular economy is not just about materials, it’s about people. Dignity, fair wages, and recognition for waste pickers must be part of the transition.
