সাগরের পানি লবণাক্ত হওয়ার প্রধান কারণগুলো বৈজ্ঞানিকভাবে ব্যাখ্যা-

১. নদী ও ক্ষয়প্রক্রিয়া (Weathering)

বৃষ্টি পাহাড়–পাথরের ওপর পড়লে শিলা ক্ষয় হয়। এতে সোডিয়াম, ক্লোরাইড, ম্যাগনেসিয়াম, ক্যালসিয়াম–এর মতো খনিজ দ্রবীভূত হয়ে নদীর মাধ্যমে সাগরে পৌঁছে।
নদীর পানি শেষ পর্যন্ত সাগরে পড়ে, কিন্তু লবণ সেখানেই জমা হতে থাকে।

২. বাষ্পীভবন (Evaporation)

সূর্যের তাপে সাগরের পানি বাষ্প হয়ে উড়ে যায়, কিন্তু লবণ উড়ে যেতে পারে না।
ফলে পানি কমে, লবণের ঘনত্ব (salinity) বেড়ে যায়।

৩. আগ্নেয়গিরি ও সমুদ্রতলের গ্যাস

সমুদ্রতলের আগ্নেয়গিরি ও হাইড্রোথার্মাল ভেন্ট থেকে বিভিন্ন লবণাক্ত খনিজ ও গ্যাস বের হয়, যা সাগরের পানিতে মিশে লবণাক্ততা বাড়ায়।

৪. লক্ষ লক্ষ বছরের সঞ্চয়

এই প্রক্রিয়াগুলো কয়েক কোটি বছর ধরে চলেছে।
তাই সাগরের পানি ধীরে ধীরে অত্যন্ত লবণাক্ত হয়ে উঠেছে।

ড্রোন প্রযুক্তি ব্যবহার করে সড়ক উন্নয়ন প্রকল্পের EIA (Environmental Impact Assessment) রিপোর্টের জন্য গুরুত্বপূর্ণ মাঠপর্যায়ের তথ্য সংগ্রহ করা হয়েছে।

ড্রোনের মাধ্যমে ভূমি ব্যবহার, আশপাশের পরিবেশ, ট্রাফিক প্রবাহ, নির্মাণ কার্যক্রম ও সম্ভাব্য পরিবেশগত প্রভাব দ্রুত ও নির্ভুলভাবে বিশ্লেষণ করা সম্ভব হচ্ছে। এতে সময় ও খরচ কমার পাশাপাশি ডেটার মানও বৃদ্ধি পাচ্ছে।

Dhaka Is Breathing Dust, Not Air?

Air pollution in Dhaka has become a serious problem. We often talk about smoke from vehicles and brick kilns, but there is another big reason that we usually ignore. That is road cutting and open piles of sand left on roadsides for a long time.

In many areas of Dhaka, roads are cut again and again. After cutting the road, the work is not finished quickly. Sand, soil, and bricks are kept beside the road for weeks or even months. These materials are left open without any cover.

Because of this, dust spreads everywhere.

When wind blows or a car passes, the sand flies into the air. People walking on the road suffer the most. Dust goes into their eyes, nose, and mouth. Breathing becomes difficult. Children, old people, and sick people face more danger.

This dust makes the air quality very bad. Small dust particles stay in the air and enter our lungs. Over time, this can cause cough, asthma, breathing problems, and heart disease. Children can also suffer from long-term health problems.

This problem is not happening by accident. It is happening because of poor planning and weak control. Roads are cut without proper plans. Construction materials are not covered. There is little monitoring, and rules are not followed.

Development is important, but development should not harm people’s health.

The solution is simple. Road work must finish on time. Sand and construction materials must be covered. Water should be sprayed to reduce dust. Authorities must check regularly and take action against those who break the rules.

Dhaka is our city. Clean air is our right. Breathing dust every day should not be normal life for us. If we do not act now, the city will become unhealthier for future generations.

জলবায়ু পরিবর্তনের ফলে যারা সবচেয়ে বেশি ক্ষতির শিকার, তারা আজ তাদের অধিকার আদায়ের দাবিতে এখানে সমবেত।
তাদের জীবন, তাদের জমি, এবং তাদের ভবিষ্যৎ রক্ষার লড়াইতে আমরা সবাই একসাথে।
জলবায়ু ন্যায়বিচার নিশ্চিত করতে হবে, ক্ষতিগ্রস্ত মানুষের অধিকার রক্ষা করতে হবে।
এটি শুধু তাদের লড়াই নয়, এটি আমাদের সকলের দায়িত্ব।

আসুন, একসাথে দাঁড়াই।
আসুন, মানবাধিকার এবং পরিবেশ রক্ষার লড়াইয়ে এগিয়ে যাই।

🌟 Environment for Generation hosted a heartwarming event today, 26th November 2024, at Shade for Street Children School, Mohammadpur, Dhaka

This initiative was part of the One Health One Bangladesh movement, focusing on children’s well-being and promoting SDG 3 (Good Health) & SDG 13 (Climate Action).

Together, we aimed to empower street children with health education, support, and creative learning activities. Let’s work hand in hand for a healthier and more sustainable future! 💚

Yesterday was an incredible day as we had the privilege of meeting Prof. Sayed Ahsanul Alam, Geo-Political economist and Chairman of the National Bureau of Economic Research (NBER Bangladesh). A true visionary with an inspiring depth of knowledge, Prof. Syed Ahsanul Alam his thoughts on building an economy that not only fosters growth but also ensures inclusivity for the marginalized and environmentally sustainable practices for future generations.

The conversation was both insightful and inspiring, touching upon areas that are critical to the progress of our nation and the world at large. From understanding the role of the blue economy and its potential for transforming Bangladesh’s economic landscape to exploring how geopolitical factors influence trade and growth, Prof. Alam brought clarity and vision to complex subjects. His ideas on environmental sustainability and the pressing need to adapt our economic models in harmony with ecological realities left a profound impression.

As representatives of Environment for Generations, we had the opportunity to share our perspective on climate change adaptation and sustainable development. Prof. Alam not only resonated with our ideas but also offered his guidance on how to integrate research and innovation into actionable strategies for addressing the challenges of our time. His emphasis on leveraging Bangladesh’s strengths while prioritizing community-driven solutions reinforced our belief that sustainable development is not just a goal but a necessity.
