Aware: Architecture and Senses is an exhibition that has been curated by the Danish architecture and research studio for . Running until September 15, it “explores the connections between people and space, inviting visitors to experience and understand it for themselves.”

The architecture firm has devised six immersive, 1:1 installations – enhanced by lighting by and soundscapes by – where “the emphasis is not on form or function, but on the visitors’ experience in space.” These include a dazzlingly reflective red spiral staircase, a wood-slatted nook for that exudes coziness, and an array of voluptuous translucent partitions in overlapping hues.

New York City’s understands the spectrum of inspiring sour hues of the beer market especially well. Since launching in 2019, the beermaker (which is NYC’s first exclusively female-owned production brewery) has become well-regarded for its supersaturated sours. (Recent releases include Watermelon Splash and Tart Deco Banana Split.) In keeping with that same spirit, the beermaker’s fourth taproom, near Manhattan’s Bryant Park, is splashed in a bright, energetic palette that departs from the dark, industrial feel of many brewery taprooms. The philosophical intent of The Folly by is to provide a gentle retreat for its owners. As such, employs an interior quality of calm and repose to the interior of the guest house. Split into two spaces, the shed functions as a garden shed and a guest house, which appears as a great rectangular form. Keeping the floor simple, The Folly has a place for everything while also appearing casual and informal so as to elevate the desire to find respite.

“The Heartwood Residence sits on the east bank of the Willamette River in Portland, Oregon. Offering a sweeping panorama of the river and its wildlife, the home overlooks boat docks, freight barges, and an early 20th-century railroad bridge, recalling the city’s industrial roots.

Inspired by the architects’ New Mexico origins, the main house and guest house form a one-story compound organized around a central courtyard, where a mature maple tree was preserved as the centerpiece.” From the architects.

Heartwood Residence was designed by William / Kaven Architecture , located in , and photographed by Jeremy Bittermann
