this is what the connection between a helicopter engine and a helicopter rotorblade assembly looks like. Try to imagine that the helicopter rotor/blades is the wheels of a car, and the air is the road. This assembly is the drive axle and cv joint and steering controls in one mechanism, even though helicopters do have transmitions this mechanism is used to transfer drive at a varrying ratio to blades at varying contact angles and torques so that you can steer the helicopter with the propeller.
