Meet the maker from Woodland Finds | Handmade Jewellery

Darlene is the maker behind Woodland Finds- it is a collection of handmade jewellery and crafts that draws inspiration from and incorporates local foraged flora. Woodland Finds first started in a small west Auckland suburb in Aotearoa (NZ). It continued quietly in the countryside of Komono Town, Mie Prefecture, Japan for several years before currently evolving here in Meanjin/Brisbane. The surrounding nature in each place I called “home” are reflected in my work - from the acorn pendants made in Aotearoa/New Zealand and the botanical resin jewellery made in Japan to the current glass flower earrings made here in Meanjin/Brisbane.

Woodland Finds is also home to small crafts like acrylic paintings of plants, botanical illustrations, mini-prints of forest-inspired designs. Darlene says, ‘may you find something that connects you to your version of woodland magic.’

Fun Facts: ‘I’ve lived in four countries to date and have concluded that the autumn season in either hemisphere is the best season. I’m a tea person that appreciates great coffee now and then. But it’s hojicha over matcha tea every time (Yes, I will die on this hill).

Meet the maker from Tara Howard Designs

Tara is a watercolour Artist/illustrator that specialises in hand painted nature and wildlife illustrations, her style is deliciate and detail oreintated with presence of a nostalgic storybook-esque. Her style displays her childhood of growing up in the UK with Beatrix potter books and loving the countryside and then all the moving to Australia and discovering the lovely Fauna and Flora here too.

Tara is originally from Cheshire in the Uk and has now lived in Queensland since her late teens, she is a mother of 2 and a fond gardening enthusiast with a passion for flowers! Most of her art inspiration comes from the magic she finds in the natural world around her, with a background in photography she often takes reference pictures of nature and wildlife to use as inspiration for her work.

Fun fact: ‘I moved to Australia from the Uk when I was 17!’
