Last month, we had the privilege of coming together to celebrate the Kakarra Part A consent determination of native title — a truly significant milestone for the Kakarra people.
We would like to thank the Kakarra Aboriginal Corporation, its directors, and everyone who came along to celebrate this special occasion. Thank you to Pearl Scott and her team for serving up the delicious roo and damper.
On 30 April 2025, Justice McEvoy of the Federal Court of Australia made a determination of native title. This determination formally recognises the native title rights and interests of the Kakarra people and the traditional ownership they have maintained over their lands since time immemorial.
Progressing a native title claim to consent determination is no small feat — it is a challenging process and one that deserves to be celebrated. We thank you all again for your hard work and for coming together to make this day so memorable.
