What a night!

Our Welcome to Walgett event was a roaring success; over 50 people packed the CWA rooms as new residents, families, local organisations and community groups all came together to connect.

Among our newest arrivals are graduate nurses who’ve made the move from Sydney and Wollongong to train at the CREST Training Centre before heading out to Walgett a fantastic pipeline of new health workers for our community.

Highlights? An icebreaker bingo game (with two new essential workers taking home great local prizes), face-to-face introductions between service organisations and new residents, and community groups signing up new members on the spot. There’s even buzz about a chess club getting up and running!

As our President Judy Campbell said — you get out what you put in. And Walgett is putting in plenty.

A huge thank you to Walgett Aboriginal Medical Service, OCHRE, Walgett Cultural & Community Aboriginal Corporation, Walgett MPS, NSW Police, Western NSW LHD, SES, Fire & Rescue, Walgett Shire Council, Coolibah Kids, ICPA, Walgett Show, Walgett Mud Trials, Cumborah Cub Club, Walgett Singers, Walgett Quilters and so many more for being part of the evening.

Special thanks to the Walgett RSL, Walgett Sporting Club and Walgett Shire Council for their generous contributions to our welcome packs for new residents.

This was more than a welcome it was the beginning of connections.
