Food for thought for a Friday…

Before starting to look for your next opportunity, how clear are you about what you're actually looking for?

It's easy to jump straight into updating your resume, browsing job advertisements and applying for roles.

But one of the most valuable things professionals can do before starting their job search is to take some time to understand themselves.

✅ What matters most to you?
✅ What are your strengths, and where do you add the most value?
✅ What type of work energises you, and what drains you?
✅ What kind of environment brings out your best?
✅ And perhaps most importantly, what do you want from the next stage of your career?

Career clarity starts with self-awareness.

When you understand your values, strengths and aspirations, you're better equipped to recognise opportunities that align with what you're looking for, ask the right questions and make more intentional career decisions.

Because your next career move shouldn't simply be about finding another job. It's about finding an opportunity that aligns with who you are and where you want to go.

Unsure what your next career move could look like? Discover opportunities that align with your strengths, aspirations and career goals. Reach out for a confidential conversation and explore what's possible for you.

Food for thought for Friday…How are you continuing to grow as the world of work evolves around you?

Experience matters. The knowledge, skills and perspectives we build throughout our careers become incredibly valuable.

But perhaps experience and continuous learning are most powerful when they go hand in hand. Learning doesn't always mean another qualification or course. It can come from remaining curious, seeking different perspectives, embracing new technology, asking for feedback or deliberately stepping into something that stretches the way we think.

Our experience, knowledge and strengths give us a foundation….What we continue to build on that foundation matters too.

A few thoughts in our latest article: Is Your Learning Keeping Pace With the Changing World of Work?

Do you really need external recruitment support for every hire?

Not necessarily.

If your organisation has the internal capability, capacity and access to the right talent, managing recruitment internally can make perfect sense.

But there are times when your existing resources or hiring approach may not be enough.

You may suddenly have several vacancies to manage, a critical role that's proving difficult to fill, managers without the capacity to run a thorough process, or a P&C team that simply needs additional support.

The question isn't whether recruitment should always be managed internally or externally.

It's about understanding what your business needs to hire well…. and choosing the right level of support when you need it.

So, where is the challenge in your organisation today: capability, capacity or access to talent?

Need additional support? Let's explore how the right recruitment support can help you access the right talent, make better hiring decisions and free up your team's capacity. Reach out for a conversation.

Your new managers may think leadership means having all the answers. Are you helping them learn that it doesn't?

It's a common shift we see when someone moves from being a high performer into leadership.

They've often built their career by being capable, knowledgeable and good at solving problems. Then they're promoted, become responsible for a team and naturally assume that being the leader means they should have the answers.

But one of the most important leadership shifts is learning when not to provide the answer and when to ask better questions.

• What do you think?
• What options have you considered?
• What would you recommend?

Good leadership often requires providing direction, sharing expertise and making decisions. It also means recognising when to step back and give people the opportunity to think through problems for themselves. This helps build their confidence, judgement and ownership rather than creating dependency on their manager.

What are you doing to help your new managers make the shift from high performer to people leader?

Want to build more confident managers and stronger, more capable teams? Let’s explore how the right leadership development can support your new and emerging leaders.

How comfortable are you talking about what you’re genuinely good at?

Many of us are far more comfortable talking about what we need to improve than recognising and articulating our strengths.

Talking about your strengths isn't about proving you're better than someone else. It's about self-awareness.

Whether you're in an interview, contributing to a team project, having a career conversation or stepping into a new opportunity, being able to articulate your strengths can help others understand the value you bring.

It's not about comparison. It's about understanding what comes naturally to you, where you add value and being able to communicate that with confidence.

So, a little reflection for Friday:

What are you naturally good at and can you explain the value it creates?

What happens when every manager has their own way of hiring?

As organisations grow, recruitment often becomes a shared responsibility.

Different managers recruit for their own teams. Different interview styles develop. Different questions are asked. And sometimes, different standards are applied when deciding who to hire.

It doesn't mean managers are doing anything wrong. Often, they simply haven't been given a clear recruitment framework to work from.

Our Hiring Capability Foundations™ helps organisations put those foundations in place: from defining roles and attracting candidates through to structured interviews, candidate assessment, selection and onboarding.

The goal isn't to add unnecessary process.

It's to give your team the tools, structure and confidence to make better hiring decisions.

Your strategy might define where your business is going... But your people determine how you get there.

As organisations grow, much of their success comes back to people capability.

• Do you have the right people in the right roles?
• Are your managers equipped to lead them effectively?
• Are you developing the capability you'll need for the next stage of growth?

Hiring, leadership and development are often treated as separate conversations. In reality, they're closely connected.

A great hire still needs strong leadership.
A strong performer may need support to become a great leader.
And even experienced people need opportunities to continue developing.

Building a stronger organisation isn't just about filling roles.

It's about building the people capability to support where the business is going next.
