A custom headpiece is designed specifically for you and your outfit. It’s what sets you apart on race day and makes you feel confident in a look that’s truly your own.

When it comes to quotes and costs, remember you’re not just paying for the finished piece. You’re paying for the time, expertise and creative process that goes into designing the final result, long before any materials are even cut or shaped!

The design and consultation part of the custom process isn’t daunting. It’s a collaborative process and you’ll be guided by me through each step… and we might even have a few giggles along the way!

You asked for more millinery tips, so here’s one I use every single day.

I used to find myself nearly finished a headpiece, but halfway through sewing in the comb… SNAP! The thread would break.

So now, before I stitch any comb into a hat, I do this trick…

It doesn’t look like much, but it makes a big difference because it…
✔️ helps protect the stitching from being cut by the metal edges - combs won’t fall off
✔️ gives a neater colour-matched finish - combs look better
✔️ makes the hat more comfortable to wear - no wobbles or combs digging into the head

Will you give this a try? Or do you have an even better method???

Honestly, getting messages like this fills my heart and makes my day 🥹

I spend hours making, stitching and tweaking every little detail, so hearing how much someone loves their hat is the best part of my job!!!

Then when i see them wearing it again… (with another sash)? Well, that’s pretty special too. 🏆

A huge congratulations to Tess Schiffmann. Thank you for trusting me with your race day look and for your lovely messages.

What a pinch me moment yesterday was… Congratulations to Angie who was the overall winner of the Darwin Cup FOTF wearing A.C. Millinery 💕💜💕

I’m completely blown away that 3 of my beautiful customers were part of that amazing top 8 lineup - What a stunning array of art and creativity on show 🙌🏻 Angie’s pink stingrays (Merrepen Arts sewn by herself), Stacey’s blue dragonflies (she painted herself and sewn by Milva Carucci Designs - Australian designer and dressmaker ) and Jessie’s purple jellyfish (Mim Cole and sewn by tatia).

What a carnival… bring on next year 🐎
