I've been learning more about burnout lately, and it doesn’t start with big moments.
It starts insidiously, with the daily grind of admin, watching the weather, meeting compliance, and huge, yet sometimes invisible emotional load we're all carrying.
I’ve lived it (and come out the other side)
I’ve also supported leaders through it.
And have become quite passionate about helping the 'doer's' understand what they can do to protect themselves and their wellbeing.

Most people tell me they either love or hate projects - whoch one are you?
What if planning your next project felt simple, guided, and the plan was really clear right from the start?
I’m playing with the idea of building a web based app based on the RISE rhythm - Reflect, Initiate, Simplify, Evaluate - where you answer a series of guided questions and end up with a clear project plan. And you'd be able to reuse the set up again and again for all of your projects.

If you’re new here, welcome, I’m Sarah
Founder of Thrive Rural - a wellbeing‑first systems brand - this business has had a few evolutions, but it started from my nurse background and my belief that time is the real currency.
You might be thinking, what is that? It’s bringing together what I have learned about systems in my time as a nurse and how they can really work to set people up to succeed. What’s the scope? It might be personal systems (as in your habits) Or the systems you use in your regional business - like your calendar, email or file storage for example, and how you arrange those or dont’t!) or maybe it’s the systems you use in the in your role in a health, social or community services job - these are the people I love to work with.
I’ve seen so many people ‘make do’ to get by, and been told to “do more with less.” and I’ve seen the cost of that — in health, in families, in small businesses and in regional communities. And I refuse to accept that as the only way to do great things.
That’s why I created Thrive Rural: to flip the script. We’re using smart systems, to do less of the repetitive, time wasting crap, so we can do more of the meaningful things we love and spend more time with who matters most.
I design systems that serve people first, protect their wellbeing, and give them time and energy back.
I’ve developed the RISE rhythm too - for continuous improvement, it’s working, and it’s proof that simple systems can change everything.
Health, time, and connections aren’t nice‑to‑haves, they are essentials for thriving.
I truly believe that
💡 Health is the foundation of well, life really (if you’ve got a health problem, you’ve only got one problem don’t you? You have to sort it first)
⏰ Time is the real currency
🌱 Your systems should give back, not take away time and energy (from the people using them)
I’m here to help good people move beyond survival mode and reclaim their freedom to thrive.

There was a time in my life when I probably did see exhaustion as a measure of success, but damn, I’m annoyed with myseOf for even thinking that at all.
Exhaustion is far from success or a successful life - it’s a warning sign. If you’re yawning through meetings, getting cranky at home with the people who matter most or thinking caffeine is a meal - your body is telling you something! Our job is to listen to it!
Here are 3 quick resets I use when it’s all getting too much. They are really simple - 1) some deep breaths - the kind where your belly is puffed out - just try it, you’ll love it 💗
2) A very short walk outside and 3) soaking up some time with teen children (even when they don’t always want me to 😂) Which one do you need today?
