Today we're honoring the memory of the incredible Minnie Pwerle, an Indigenous Australian artist and member of the Alyawarre people. Pwerle's paintings are characterized by their bright, bold colors and fluid lines, which depict body paint and ceremonial stories of her ancestral homeland. Pwerle's work has been exhibited internationally and is held in major collections around the world. Let's celebrate the beauty and cultural significance of Pwerle's art!

Going to the new Sydney Modern today at The Art Gallery of NSW. Such a beautiful space to show off more fabulous Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples art. Really worth the visit if you are in Sydney.

Minnie Pwerle, Bush Melon - Awelye, 2006. Minnie began painting in her late 80’s in the Northern Territory community of Utopia. Inspired by Emily Kame Kngwarreye and encouraged by her daughter, Barbara Weir, Minnie developed her signature body paint designs. Her paintings are now recognised internationally.
