Treasurer Jim Chalmers: “The reason this matters, is because the Property Council has said, that if this requirement was eased it could mean an extra 35,000 homes built by institutional investors over the course of the next five years.”

On Wednesday, ASIC announced it will review stamp duty disclosure requirements under RG 97.

The current settings discourage superannuation funds from investing in Australian real estate.

Our modelling shows that a simple change to remove stamp duty as a transaction cost from RG 97 could deliver 35,000 new homes and encourage close to $10 billion into Australian real estate.

As the Treasurer said, this “has the potential to be a really important change”.

Big news for housing & super.

ASIC is reviewing how stamp duty is treated in super fund reporting.

Might not sound exciting but a change in reporting could unlock $10 billion of investment for Australian property and help build 35,000 new homes.

Now, stamp duty should still be reported – but as a tax, not a fee.

One simple change with a big impact.

Australia’s healthcare property sector is set to hit $12.1B by 2028, with major precincts transforming cities and attracting billions in investment.

With 27 major precincts in operation or development across Melbourne, Sydney, and South-East Queensland, this model is reshaping city landscapes and delivering real impact.

Backed by long-term leases, constrained supply, and strong yields, institutional and international investors are increasingly recognising the sector’s potential, injecting $1.43B between 2018 and 2022 alone.

As Mitch Enright of M3 Property puts it: This isn’t just another hot market — it’s solving real problems and driving sustainable economic development.
