Did you hear the one about the Mini Amiga 500 with the plastic non working keyboard?
Well, i went done made one with a
Mini WORKING Keyboard!
Many of you’ll know just how many years (on and off) have gone into this, multiple thousands of hours developing and iterating.
Measuring the originals!
Profiling the original keys
Creating the keys in CAD
Creating the text in CAD then revising for 42-ish percent scale.
Sourcing the key switches
Developing a working solution to use keycaps with the switches
Finding how to custom colour resin,
Perfecting the print.
Assembly!
Code!
Still to finish the last few yards now, packaging and pricing!
Ive got now weeks of spreadsheets , price breaks, sourcing ahead of me!

The top one represents about two months of work to improve things compared to the bottom.
The left hand print is from yesterday. The right hand one a few weeks ago!
Things, admittedly look very similar!
But, i can assure you, theres close to a thousand tweaks to the keycap CAD model.
That last 10% to perfect things takes easily 90% of the time!
The light keycaps are now DONE!
Next step , the darker ones 🙂 (which is just pigment matching)

Tiny, incremental fixes!
Here, I’m breaking stuff to see how tolerant it is.
My new resin and print setup have really tightend tolerances and made things sharper.
Too sharp it seems and now the buttons fit too perfectly.
So, another couple of tweaks needed to stop them sticking!

Who likes Beige?
Got too excited and accidentally fitted a beige enter key when I should have waited to fit a darker coloured one!

Mmmm, ive found that milky tea works quite well!

Dialling in the Amiga keycaps printing,
Exposure times, colours all need dozens of tweaks to make it perfect! And that’s just the slightly beige keys, gotta do the darker ones also!
Bonus points to anyone that can spot the flaws on this latest print!
Also working on the keymaps! Almost there but still more tweaks!
These pics show four revisions of colour and print times/exposure!
A few more and it’ll be great!

Once the Mini Amiga keyboard is released, it’ll be possible to 3D print a working mini A1200 case for it! Thanks to 10p6 for the hard work doing the case!
What if - Amiga 1200 Mini Teaser - RGB Keyboard compatible This is a quick teaser video I made to show the Commodore Amiga 1200 Mini computer I am working on. It uses 'The A500' internal parts, and will allow Bluegh....

This little screenshot took nearly a month of my evenings and weekends to put together!. All keys on the keyboard correctly registering on the mini. What is printed on the key is what will appear on screen!...
Here, i've pressed every button.....Then with Commodore, Then with shift. that pesky ↑ key making π was fun. £ a little easier. @ however, now THAT was a challenge to get the correct PETSCII codes. Most QMK keyboard.c files have maybe 50ish lines of code!. This one has over 250, and i've not yet added any other layers for correctly mapping when plugging this into a PC / Raspberry pi!

Doing some software stuff for TheA500 mini working keyboard kit!
This is for Keybaord layout editor, and hopefully will allow some tinkering by end users!
The release candidate circuit boards arrived … so far so good on them. Buttons seem to work ok, CAPS lock LED toggles good too! Early 2026 is looking like a go
