Earlier this month our teams spent more time in boots than behind desks, heading out to visit two Land Restoration Fund projects and walk through the country to see how the Avoided Clearing projects were tracking on the ground.

Each property showed off something different:
On Nioka, we spent time in the Brigalow scrub looking at how the melon holes act as natural water storage, catching runoff and recharging the aquifers that keep the country resilient.
At Stonehaven, we looked at ironbark and softwood scrub country that’s thriving. Since starting the Avoided Clearing project, the landholder has seen more productive, diverse vegetation coming through, showing the real-world value of keeping this country standing. In both cases, we walked the paddocks together.

Being there in person meant we could get into the 'nitty-gritty' project details and handle any questions right where the work happens. By the end of the visits, everyone had a clearer shared understanding of the next steps. It was a good reminder that when it comes to managing country, these conversations are always better had face-to-face.

Australia is sitting on one of the biggest new income opportunities for regional communities and nature repair in its history.

Our Chair Brendan Foran says GreenCollar is part of a new national advocacy group being launched to grow Australia's nature economy.

Growing Australia’s Nature Economy (GANE) has been established to strengthen public confidence in Australia’s carbon and biodiversity markets, support landholders and First Nations groups participating in them, and ensure these systems continue to deliver measurable results on farms, on Country and across regional Australia.

Brendan and representatives from the NRM, finance, Agtech & environmental market sectors will be hosting the 'Australia's Environmental Markets' panel at Wilmot Field Day | 4-5 March 2026

Last week we celebrated 15 years of carbon farming in NSW! We brought our team and project partners together in Dubbo for dinner, then visited Lot 101 in the Megalong Valley for a paddock walk and a delicious lunch. Thank you to everyone who we have worked with over the last 15 years, running projects that keep country healthy and productive.

We’re proud to have supported the 2025 Gawler Ranges Women and Girls Camp, in partnership with the Gawler Ranges Aboriginal Corporation and Nature Foundation.

Held on Hiltaba Nature Reserve, the camp brought together women and girls from Barngarla, Kokatha and Wirangu families connected with the Gawler Ranges for a week of culture, conservation and community.

From sunrise walks and yarning to weaving, bush medicine, spotlighting, learning from Rangers and cooking kangaroo tail on the fire, the week created space for knowledge to flow - celebrating the strength and leadership of Aboriginal women and girls.

It was a privilege for GreenCollar’s Indigenous Partnerships Program Delivery Manager, Caroline Nefiodovas, to attend and share in the experience. Another highlight was the cultural exchange with the , with a Senior Ranger joining from Gathaagudu (Shark Bay, WA) - creating a great opportunity to share knowledge, build connections, and swap stories about looking after Country.

These moments remind us that caring for Country is caring for community - and that the best outcomes come from walking together, listening and learning on Country.

Deep respect and thanks to GRAC, Nature Foundation (Katie Perry) and all the Elders, rangers and participants who made this such a meaningful and memorable week.

‘World leading’ land-based project to improve water quality on the Great Barrier Reef over 25 years will help drive action at scale 31/10/2025

On behalf of all the stakeholders who have been working on the Bowen River gully rehabilitation project, we are extremely pleased and proud to see it come to fruition. We hope it is the first of many that will help to clean up the waters of the Great Barrie Reef.

“The Bowen River gully rehabilitation project, which is the first gully rehabilitation project conducted under the [Reef Credits] scheme, prevents fine sediment run-off by employing scientifically-proven erosion control techniques, which include landforming, soil amelioration, installation of engineered controls to halt and slow sediment mobilisation and the stabilisation of soil with native revegetation... It is estimated the project will prevent just under 18 thousand tonnes of fine sediment from entering the [Great Barrier] Reef’s waters.” - Bart Dryden, Head of Portfolio, East Queensland.

‘World leading’ land-based project to improve water quality on the Great Barrier Reef over 25 years will help drive action at scale The construction phase of a major new project dedicated to improving water quality on The Great Barrier Reef has just been completed at a gully rehabilitation project in the Bowen River catchment in north Queensland.

Our Story

At GreenCollar we see the environment as fundamental to social well-being and economic prosperity.

GreenCollar is one of Australia’s largest environmental markets investors and project developers. We strive to prove that the best way to achieve lasting environmental benefits is to place value on the environment and allow markets to provide incentives and repayment for sustainable practice and repair.

We are at the forefront of helping farmers, graziers and other landholders identify and create commercial opportunities through projects that enhance their productive enterprise and care for the environment.

As a young company, founded in 2008, GreenCollar developed some of the first projects under the Carbon Farming Initiative (2011) and is now the largest provider of carbon abatement in Australia. We have established over 100 projects across rural and regional areas working alongside private landholders, research organisations, government, natural resource management (NRM) and community groups.
