Do you have a little time and a lot of love to give?

We’re inviting compassionate community members to express their interest in joining our Pound Buddy Volunteer Program at both of our shelters — Erina and Charmhaven ❤️

Our Pound Buddies play a vital role in giving shelter dogs and cats extra care, enrichment and human connection while they wait for their forever homes.

Successful applicants will be invited to attend an induction session where you’ll learn everything you need to feel confident and supported in your role.

☀️ Summer is here, and while we love the sunshine, the warmer weather can be tough on our furry friends.

Keeping your pet safe and comfortable in the heat is all about a few simple but important habits:

💧 Hydration is key – Always make sure your pet has access to fresh, cool water. Try adding ice cubes or offering frozen treats to help them stay refreshed.

🐾 Avoid hot pavements and midday walks – If the ground is too hot for your hand, it’s too hot for their paws! Walk early in the morning or later in the evening when it’s cooler.

🚗 Never leave pets in cars – Even for a few minutes, the temperature inside a car can skyrocket, putting your pet’s life at risk.

🌴 Provide shade and cool resting spots – Whether you’re at home or out and about, make sure your pet can escape the sun and stay comfortable.

With a little extra care, your pets can enjoy a safe, happy, and fun-filled summer! ❤️
