Would you believe this is the same lizard?

Eastern Bearded Dragon, a Cold Overcast Day vs a Hot Sunny Day.

Because Lizards have cold blood, they use their body to absorb the heat from the sun ☀️ You'll often find reptiles (lizards in particular) will darken the colour or tones of their body to help absorb more heat on a cooler day.

Southern reptile species like this one here, are usually darker in pattern or colour compared to your northern or central species of reptiles that don't get a warmer humid climate or sunny days as often.

This is why you'll find Diamond pythons will be darker the further down south you are compared to the brighter coloured ones up north of where they're distributed.

Otherwise, some reptile species have adapted to suit their own ecosystem in cool ways, while others have developed their own unique features within certain blood pools local to one particular area. That blood pool may have a small adaptive feature within their genetics that has proven to make the species stronger and differentiates them from others within the same species outside of that area 👏
