MAX Giunta

Today we said goodbye to Max, our dog who was so much more than a pet; he was a brilliant, vocal, and devoted member of our family.
Max started his journey with us moving from the pound to our home, much to the disgust of our cat Abbey (RIP). He soon graduated from puppy school with high honors. It was clear from the start how sharp he was. He took great pride in showing off his repertoire of tricks, whether he was "playing dead," being a "statue", offering a polite "shake hands," a celebratory "high five," "balancing cheese on his nose"or giving us a spirited "speak" exactly when requested.
He lived his life with boundless energy that was infectious. If there was a ball to be chased, an ocean to swim, or a path to run, Max was there with total enthusiasm. Our walks together were a testament to his adventurous spirit. He was always ten steps ahead, nose to the ground and ears forward (one. down.),π exploring the world with joy. Yet, no matter how far ahead his excitement took him, he never forgot his partner. He would instinctively stop at every curb, sitting patiently and waiting for me to catch up so we could cross the road together.
Max also enjoyed the holidays. Christmas was a special time for him π€ He was such a good sport about dressing up for our photos under the treeβnever once complaining about the number of poses or the many costume changes. Even in those moments where he might have been cringing inside, he stayed patient and proud, simply happy to please and be at the heart of the family celebrations.
He was also a dog who loved to be part of the adventure. He cherished our short trips away, soaking up every new sight and smell. When he had to stay behind, he made sure we knew exactly how he felt about it; his vocal welcomes upon our return were a hilarious and heart-wrenching reminder of how much he missed us.
But perhaps what I will miss most is the Max who didn't realise quite how big he was. Despite being a solid 22 kilos, Max loved nothing more than being my "lap dog". There was nothing he loved more than climbing up for a cuddle, settling himself in my lap under a warm blanket, and simply being close.
Max, you have left paw printsπΎ on our hearts that can never be erased. β€οΈβπ©Ή
Thank you for the loyalty, the tricks, the "conversations," the festive memories, and the cuddles. You were the best boy,π₯° and we will miss you every single day.
Our hearts are broken. π Saying goodbye has been the hardest decision yet. but the right one for you. # # #
Fly high our boy,π chase that ball, swim in that endless ocean.
Keep Abbey warm and let her know we miss and think of her often and hope she is ok.ππππ₯°
