Some action on the SnakeCam overnight, and 10 pygmy python eggs this morning. A personal record clutch for this girl and a good sized clutch for perthensis. Laid outside her nesting box but all look good, we’ve had 100% hatch rate from this female so far 🤞

Interesting article that’s worth a read, whatever your views are on the tub v’s naturalistic issue.

Our second clutch of pygmy pythons for the season has hatched. This clutch is from our speckle-patterned female and these hatchies look a bit chunkier than our perthensis clutch that hatched in late Dec from our red female …. but they still only weigh 3 or 4g! Time for some more accurate scales I think.

Happy to continue our tradition of posting blurry photos … even happier when they’re of our pygmy python male locking up with our speckled female. Different female to our clutch last season, looking forward to maybe seeing some more patterned baby perthensis this season.

Pure wildtype Bredli hatchlings, maternally incubated and hatched Feb 2022.

Several are well established feeders and have had a couple of sheds, doing everything a baby python should do.

These hatchies are from our long-term breeding pair, the gentle giants of our collection, and owners of snakes from past clutches can confirm that they colour up beautifully with the classic red, yellow and black Bredli banding - gotta love a pure classic Bredli!!

Wish we could keep crocs in NSW …

Very happy to have finally the first few of our clutch of pygmy pythons established on thawed frozen pinkie mice. Three have had six independent feeds and three sheds … and what a food response when they finally ‘get’ the food thing!

Most of this seasons Bredli hatchies are coming along nicely, this young lady is looking pretty full after her first fuzzy rat. There’s a few stubborn slow feeders in the clutch this year, but we’ll get them there!
