We recently hosted a traditional Aboriginal Smoking Ceremony to commemorate the breaking of ground on our latest project in Morisset. The project is a group of 9 individual housing units for mental health patients on the grounds outside the existing main facility. This will give residents greater independence and privacy during their stay.

A while back we kicked off a social housing project in Bonnyrigg the right way, with an Welcome to Country and Smoking Ceremony.
In acknowledgment of the Dharug People of the Dharawal Nation the traditional custodians of this land we pay our respects to our elders past and present.
The ceremony was performed by Aboriginal elder Uncle Gary Simon Jagamarra.
A smoking ceremony is an ancient Australian Aboriginal custom that involves burning various of native plants to produce smoke, which has cleansing properties and the ability to ward off bad spirits from the people and the land and make pathway for a brighter future.
