While the paw-rents get hitched, Freddy got a customised Pup Minding Package including an hour walk, obedience session and all the treats for being such a good boy. Another beautiful client our team got to meet today. Freddy is a poodle mix and joining the All About K Minds ‘pup-sitting’ club. We are looking forward to having the day with Freddy is a couple of weeks while his parents get married. ❤️

Meet our newest All About K Minds member, Terry. This beautiful little dog has definitely had a challenging start to his life. He was rescued from a puppy farm and his adopted family knows how special this little man is. Terry is also a COVID puppy so like so many dogs, has been affected by the pandemic. Our team is setting achievable goals for Terry and his owners in helping him become a more confident and happy boy. We are looking to seeing his progress over the coming months.

Today was a very exciting day & boy, did Harvey make that known! Our focus for our session today was on training drills (eg. place, sit & release). Think of training your dog like a memory you want to keep forever.

Many dog owners want to find a way to change unwanted behaviour which is totally understandable but are you paying attention to the behaviour you want to see more often.

I believe every moment with your dog is a training opportunity. For example your dog jumps on visitors, you say ‘off’, redirect to a desirable behaviour, something simple your dog always masters but what would you do if your dog made the decision to sit instead? Or simply stayed on their bed. What do you do?

My advise for the day is start to focus more on the every day moments. Praise the BETTER decisions your dog makes. Reward when your dog chooses NOT to bark at knock on the door, the moment they choose NOT to counter-surf when you are preparing a meal.
