If you're a fan of Folk music, you won't want to miss Sutherland Acoustic's June concert!
'When Woody Met Pete' is a duo of Peter Hicks and Maurie Mulheron who have teamed up to present their new show exploring the songs and stories that made Woody Guthrie and Pete Seeger two of the most influential musicians of the twentieth century.
The concert features the songs of Guthrie, who inspired generations of singer-songwriters, and Seeger, the most boycotted, banned, blacklisted, and picketed musician in American history. Their chance meeting in 1940 changed the course of musical history sparking the world-wide folk music revival.
The concert will be at Tradies Gymea Thursday June 11th at 7:30pm. Tickets $20, payable at the door.

A huge thank you to everyone who visited a Tradies venue on our first Purple Friday on May 8th - we pledged to donate 10% of all F&B sales to Escabags Australia and today we made a donation of $3,000 💜
Thank you to all our members and guests who chose a Tradies venue for a drink or a meal - you've helped make a difference to individuals and families fleeing domestic violence 🙏
This is also our last weekend to collect items for Escabags, so if you have new, unopened toiletries such as shampoo, conditioner, toothbrushes, toothpaste, body wash or children's items such as nappies or a teddy bear, please bring them in - we have collection points at Reception at each of our venues.

ABOUT THE ARTISTS
TWO ROMANTICS is the husband and wife duo of Emma Birdsall (vocals) and Daniel May(keys), blending classic soulful sounds with jazz standards, ballads, blues, and timeless favourites from artists like Carole King, Stevie Wonder, Bacharach and more. Performing together for nearly a decade, they bring warmth, chemistry, and a heartfelt touch to every performance - from Sydney’s finest venues to beyond.
SHANE FLEW & MATT ROSS are an acclaimed Sydney-based blues, roots and Americana duo, recognised for their seasoned performances and recent victory in the Sydney Blues Society Solo/Duo Challenge. They return to Cronulla this year with a brand new acoustic blues/americana album, “ONCE UPON A LONG TIME AGO” with 7 original songs and 3 traditional blues covers featuring their combined vocal and instrumental skills.
JORJA CARROLL blends soul, pop, and soft rock with evocative, heartfelt lyricism, crafting songs that explore the complexities of love and life. Drawing inspiration from artists such as Amy Winehouse, Taylor Swift, and Etta James, Jorja’s music is rooted in emotional honesty, powerful vocals, and a deep commitment to storytelling.
AMY SOLYLO has her heels dug deep into a bold new corner of Australian country-pop, and she does not mind getting her boots dirty to do it. Her mother once wrote in the margins of her baby book that she could “carry a tune before she could carry a sentence” - and she’s been overcompensating at both since.

A huge thank you to everyone who came to celebrate the retirement of the one and only Ron ‘Hollywood’ Hodder this morning!
This is actually Ron’s second retirement. For those who know Ron well, it will come as no surprise that retirement didn’t suit him the first time around. He started at Tradies 24 years ago to fill in the time and found that a role in customer service was right up his alley. Welcoming, friendly and always up for a chat (and a photo!), Ron became the well-known ‘face of Tradies’ in no time at all. We all knew when Ron was on holidays or unwell because the relieving concierge would spend all day answering, ‘Where’s Ron today?’.
It isn’t just our customers who have loved seeing Ron at Tradies. Over the years, we’ve all learnt a thing or two about customer service from Ron, been entertained by his wicked sense of humour and appreciated his genuine care and kindness.
Ron, we’re grateful for the 24 years you have spent being the first impression people had of Tradies and you will be greatly missed by both our team and members alike. We hope you enjoy your second retirement and still call in to see us when you’re not busy socialising!

Across Australia, today marks the start of National Reconciliation Week (May 27 – June 3) ❤️💛🖤
Each year, National Reconciliation Week encourages all Australians to learn about our shared histories, cultures, and achievements, and to explore how each of us can contribute to achieving reconciliation in Australia.
This year's theme 'All In' is a call for all Australians to commit wholeheartedly to reconciliation every single day; to step away from the sidelines and take action to make change.
So how is Tradies taking action to make change? We show our respect for the traditional owners of the land we live and work on through an Acknowledgement of Country before all monthly Board meetings and significant events at our venues, named one of our function rooms after the Dharawal people and proudly fly the Aboriginal flag alongside the Australian flag at our Gymea club. At Tradies Caringbah, we recognise the original custodians of the land with a plaque at the entrance.
We believe that empowering young Indigenous people with the confidence to embrace their culture and shape the future is vitally important for reconciliation and as part of this, we have built a strong decade-long partnership with our local Clontarf Academy at Endeavour Sports High. We have also built relationships with a number of local Indigenous groups and organisations and are proud to support their initiatives that strengthen reconciliation and foster genuine connection, understanding and allyship within our community.
What can you do to take action? A great place to start is the Reconciliation Week website at www.reconciliation.org.au or for local events, follow Shire Reconciliation

It's National Volunteer Week! This is a fabulous chance to celebrate and thank the people who give their time to make our communities stronger ❤️
We'd like to give a special shout out to our own Team Tradies who, over the past year, have volunteered more than 1,520 hours in support of community causes. That time was spent doing everything from donating blood and plasma and delivering meals to seniors, to tutoring local students, planting trees, raising funds for charity and so much more.
We'd also like to acknowledge the time and leadership of our Board of Directors, who serve in a volunteer capacity. Thank you for the guidance and commitment you bring to our organisation.
And to the thousands of volunteers across our community who show up week in and week out for local sporting clubs, charities and community groups - thank you! Your generosity with your time keeps essential programs running and helps people feel connected and supported.
To everyone who volunteered this year: we see you, we appreciate you, and we're proud of the impact you're making. Happy National Volunteer Week!
