Pawsitive Pet Training

Had a great little park session with Alfie the Shiba Inu today. It was all about new sniffs, exploring new surfaces and moving around freely on a long lead. We also practiced some recall training (with milds distractions) and casual check ins with the humans.

Found a cool mosaic mural on or walk, and in typical natural dog style, Alfie confidently jumpped up to check it out, always ready for adventures ❤️🐾

Today Alfie had his first training session from our puppy training package and he is such a little super star, he was already showing off all his adorable sits to win some treatos!

Our puppy training packages are a great way to start your puppy's learning journey and help set them up for success as they work out the world around them and settle in with their new families 🐾

Spud ✨️

This spunky little dude had a great first session with the treat lady today!

His guardian was needing a bit of help with managing puppy biting and toilet training.

We introduced some more enrichment ideas and tug toys to help redirect some of that puppy biting to a more appropriate outlet.

We also had a great opportunity today to practice toilet training, Spud wandered up the the back door on his own, we let him outside then he did a wee on the grass which was followed by a jack pot of treats! SUCH A CLEVER BOY SPUD!

Bentley and Betty 🐾

These two beautiful boxers love the treat lady!

Bentley is working together with his guardian to learn how to greet people more appropriately without jumping up, recall training and how to walk on lead without pulling.

We also introduced some more environmental enrichment opportunities to help reduce digging behaviours which have recently started happening since moving into their new home.

We are still investigating the function for the digging, as all behaviours have a purpose 🔎 we are hoping a visit from the pest controller may shine a light on the reason so these beautiful boxers can hang up their professional diggers hats for good 👷‍♂️

Cant wait for our next session and keep up the amazing work guys!

Just had a great session with Maisie the beautiful 6 month old sheepadoodle.

Maisie is in the peak of adolescents and loves jumping up to meet people. Today we worked out what management works best to help set her up for success when visitors arrive and to work on some training exercises to help teach her what to do instead.

Maisie and her guardian did great, we spent most of our session just capturing calm behaviours like sitting, looking at or away from mild distractions and laying down to relax.

Finally completed Kim Brophey's L.E.G.S applied ethology family dog mediation course!

I highly recommend this course to all dog behaviour nerds.

This beautiful boy with his big brown eyes and excited tail is learning how to interact with his faimily and visitors without so much excitable jumping and mouthing, especially when it's time to put the clothes out on the clothes line.

His family have all learnt how to use a clicker and have been working together to teach Rupert more appropriate behaviours like standing or sitting calmly, which they have all picked up very quickly and Rupert is making lots of progress and having lots of fun too!

Such a superstar team ✨️

Had a great time learning and meeting like minded, force-free trainers and professionals at this weekends PPGA workshop/conference!

It's okay to make mistakes, your learning. Just take a deep breath and be kind to yourself 🙌

We sometimes get put off training because of the bad days, the times when we don’t make progress or when we feel self conscious.

But there is so much worse than failing, getting it wrong, falling down. And that’s to never try at all. Let every time we fail, remind us how brave we are.

Earlier this week we had the pleasure of meeting the beautiful miss Maggie, who had a rough start to life but has now found herself in a wonderful home with lots of love and support.
