Willa
16 days old.
Willa is now over double her start weight, getting stronger and moving through the enclosure a little bit more.
Her colour is darkening, and becoming more blue. Her blue eyes are starting to come through too. They will get lighter and lighter as she gets older.
Her curls are beautiful and dense.

Willa
10 Days old.
Blue Mink, Solid (can't see any white, but will keep checking!)
She certainly has a set of lungs on her! She looks like a newborn seal pup, and moves like one too. Relishing being the only kid at the milk bar.
And her curls are something else!

Anyone who has been around for any length of time will know that I love to create themes for my litters, and a photo border to go with it. Introducing Willa's Will-o-the-wisp border!
She is thriving so far, and Lacey is being a superb mother. I do need to remember to take photos when there is natural light though.
Willa's colours are coming out, and as suspected, she is a blue mink. I do not believe she has any white (the white in photos are highlights on the curls). Her little blue nosepad is so cute as it develops.
Someone asked me why didn't I give her the name Willow? Well, my mum's old cat was called Willow, and so it felt a bit weird to use his name - though I may consider it if I ever do a Scooby Gang theme (IYKYK).
At this stage Willa is not available. Depending on how she grows will depend on whether she stays here, or is offered to other breeders. Being a singleton means there is too little of her, and too many of us!
For now we are just excited to see her come into her own.

They say the veil is thinnest on the moon of Samhain, where the faeries, piskies, púca, boggarts, and other mystical spirits are closest to our realm. And so it was on the 30th of April, when Lacey followed the moonlit mist and gave birth to her very own Will-o-the-wisp.
Introducing Willa,
Not currently available.

Bringing animas into this world and nurturing them means making bonds and loving them deeply. And when they have been with you for 3.5 months, you are very attached.
So it is earth shattering when something happens to that kitten. Sometimes we forget how fragile they can be (in spite of their antics!), and a split second can mean time stops.
Just over a week ago a tragic accident happened in our home. There is no blame, accidents happen in life, and unfortunately this meant a beautiful little life ended.
I tried frantically to help him, while also knowing it was going to be fruitless. But I had to try. It is not easy giving mouth to mouth to a kitten who is in panic mode because they cannot breathe. Unfortunately my futile efforts landed me with a hospital trip (and a very confused ED doctor who queried if “CPR on cat” was the correct triage note).
Cat bites are notorious for requiring substantial care. I thankfully got away with a scrubbing of the wound, getting sewn up, and oral antibiotics. It’s almost fully healed, though I will likely have a bit of scarring because it went through the mucosaand it was a bit lopsided
Little Leonardo was a much anticipated new friend for a teen woman, and was going to live his best life with his brother Michelangelo. Now Mikey will be receiving all the love, and giving just as much back.
Please remember that there is often a lot of literal blood, sweat and tears that goes into breeding. And many broken hearts along the way.
Rest Peacefully Leonardo.

It’s hard work being a kitten.
