Trees can very easily push retaining walls over. Keeping them away from retaining walls is good building practice.

When carrying out a building inspection, i always check the tiles are stuck to the substrate by testing with a tapper.

It is never a good idea to install a shower tray on top of a previous shower base. This will never be successful.

Further investigation revealed a sub nest of termites in a timber wall. It is always good to further investigate suspitions.

This is a photo that shows a concealed post incorporated into a wall. This is a classic position for termite entry. These areas should be avoided in construction or treated by a licensed pest controller if you have them.

If you have metal posts under your house ,it is always good to keep them out of the soil to prevent rust taking hold. A good idea is to seal the post to the concrete pad with ormonoid or similar to stop air mixing with dampness creating the perfect environment for the steel to start rusting.

If you owned a car you would pay $275 for a service of a $5000 car. It would only cost the same for a building report of a $500 000 home. Why wouldn't you want to know how your house was performing. Would you know if your house was sinking, rusting, leaking, illegally constructed etc ?

Have you ever checked your shower for leaks? If you have mould or dampness around the outer walls of your shower, you may have a leak. This should be investigated. Ever noticed the bottom row of tiles in your shower is darker than other rows of tiles? Your shower may need sealing.
