Hand poked at Ritual Ink.

Small symbol hand poked at this year’s Earth Frequency festival.

Handpoke tattoos are especially well-suited for fingers, toes, feet, and hands because the technique is slower, more precise, and naturally gentler on delicate, bony areas. Instead of the rapid vibration of a machine, handpoke works by manually inserting the ink dot by dot, which means less trauma to the skin and a calmer experience overall. This control allows the artist to place pigment exactly where it needs to go, helping designs heal more cleanly and hold better in spots that are prone to fading. For high-movement, high-wear areas, handpoke can offer both durability and a softer touch—making it an ideal option for these tricky parts of the body.

Hand poked in ceremony.

Intentional design created to remember a good friend.

Her ‘sign in’ now etched forever the fireworks she created now marked and carried on.
We added ashes to the ink and sat with the intentions of the piece to remember a life that was in service to so many.

Hand poked flash design.

One of our flash designs from this year’s festival sheets. This eagle is created with dotwork using a 5RL needle only. As it heals there will be more contrast in the wings, body and the embellishments as the lighter ink washes start to fade.

Hand poked at Ritual Ink.

This piece marks the beginning of a new chapter — an inward journey of trust, intuition, and authenticity.
Created with deep intention and held in ceremony, this marking complements the piece on the opposite arm, also hand poked at Ritual Ink months prior.
Together, they serve as symbols of protection and courage.

Matching hand poked tattoos at Ritual Ink.

These were done in the last session on the Monday of Earth Frequency. It was fun to create and tattoo these matching shoulder pieces.

The aircon in studio and the gentleness of hand poked tattoos gave these friends from Melbourne a chance to have an hour nap while being tattooed. A much needed rest before hitting the dance floor for the closing sets of festival.

Hand poked 2 day project.

Letting a piece go unfinished for me feels a bit vulnerable. Knowing what the second day of the tattoo entails with the detail and finalising the design feels powerful. All of the elements and intracacies that have gone into this piece have come from the intentions and the meaning the client has brought forward.

If you would like to have a bigger piece designed and hand poked DM us to join our waitlist for January 2026.

Hand poked at Ritual Ink.

This is a start to a design that will flow around the back, neck and onto the other shoulder and arm.
