Galungan blessings from Bali. 🌿✨
One of the many reasons I love being here is that spirituality isn’t tucked away for special occasions. It flows through everyday life, filling the streets, homes and temples with beauty, gratitude and devotion.
Today is Galungan, one of the most sacred celebrations in the Balinese Hindu calendar. It marks the triumph of Dharma over Adharma — wisdom over ignorance, truth over deception, peace over chaos, kindness over greed, and love over fear. It’s also believed to be a time when ancestral spirits return to visit their families, making it a beautiful opportunity to honour those who came before us and give thanks for their blessings.
The magnificent penjor you see in these photos and videos are tall bamboo poles decorated with coconut leaves, flowers, fruits and offerings. They line the roads throughout Bali, swaying gently in the breeze and symbolising abundance, gratitude and devotion. They also represent the sacred harmony between humanity, nature and the divine — a beautiful reminder that we are all connected and that balance is something to be nurtured and celebrated.
Bali is beautiful at any time of year, but there is something especially magical about Galungan. The colours, the offerings, the sense of celebration, and the reminder that no matter what challenges we face, wisdom, truth and peace are always worth choosing.
Selamat Hari Galungan. 🤍🙏✨
PS all images and videos are mine starting with the devotional beauty that met my eyes and heart this morning when I opened my Villa door and saw the offerings placed at the temple in front of my building through two the images I saw on my walk today ….except the last video which is from and shows a beautiful example of traditional dress and offerings being made 🤍🙏✨

A month ago, under the first full moon of May, I was here in Bali facilitating Meet Yourself in Bali with one of the loveliest groups of women I’ve ever had the privilege of sharing this journey with. It was a magical experience filled with laughter, connection, healing, and so many beautiful, expansive moments.
Now, as we move beyond the Blue Moon of 31 May, I’m still here. I’ve stayed on longer to explore alternative healing modalities for my autoimmune condition, to rest, to write, and to explore.
Today I wandered back to the where I take my guests for a powerful sound healing experience. This time I tried the Light, Sound & Vibration journey inside the Moon Pyramid. Ninety minutes seemed to pass in twenty. Lying on a vibrating waterbed beneath shifting fractals of colour moving over my eyelids, I found myself most deeply affected by the live didgeridoo. The deep, ancient resonance felt profoundly balancing and energising. Honestly, I could have stayed there all day.
It’s a beautiful time to be in Bali. The skies are blue, the evenings are cool, and for once I’m reaching for a cardigan after sunset. My little villa in the rice fields of Ubud has become a gentle place to pause, reflect, and create. It’s especially lovely when my neighbors cats come to visit in the evening 🖤🤍
As I approach my 60th birthday later this month, I’m feeling grateful for the opportunities life continues to place before me. For healing. For adventure. For reinvention. For the chance to keep learning.
And for the space to write.
Lost Book of Spells began this journey. Coven: Where Witches Gather continued it. Now, surrounded by the beauty of Bali, I’m working on the final book in the trilogy:
Be Witch.
Dropping tomorrow ! My post-Coven: Where Witches Gather book tour interview with Kaye Doran on her shamanic podcast 🥁 ✨ Inner Voice of Knowing ✨

Yesterday morning, wandering through the village near my villa in Sayan, I came upon this small temple beside the rice fields, and I completely fell in love with it.
It felt so alive. Moss-covered volcanic stone. Morning sunlight filtering through palms. Ancient guardian figures powerful yet with benevolent, gentle gazes.
One image in particular captivated me — a strange, primal guardian figure above the temple threshold that appeared both masculine and feminine at once. Fertility, protection, mystery, life force… it reminded me how many ancient spiritual traditions did not divide the sacred into neat categories. Nature itself is layered, liminal, wild.
And then I noticed something else. On the outer wall of the temple was the image of a duck.
Over the last few days I’ve been fascinated watching the ducks here in Bali being guided into harvested rice fields after the crops are cut. They feast on leftover grain, insects and snails, fertilising and preparing the soil for the next cycle of growth. One of the oldest and most joyful forms of organic farming still living in the world today.
Standing in front of this temple amongst the rice paddies, I felt suspended in the centre of the sacred co-creative relationship between humans, animals, water, land and light.
I left three flowers there as a small offering of gratitude before I continued my walk. 🌿✨

One of the things I’ve loved watching here in Bali is how much the ducks enjoy feasting on harvested rice fields. They waddle through the muddy paddies eating leftover grain, insects, snails — helping clean, fertilise, and prepare the soil for the next cycle of growth. It’s one of the purest and oldest forms of organic farming. Nothing is wasted in the process.
Watching them today made me reflect on how lush, green, and beautiful this field was just two weeks ago. Now it’s stripped bare — broken stalks, mud, and dark water.
And it made me think about life.
The times when everything has been stripped back raw and even devastated… But it wasn’t meaningless destruction. There was always a harvest, even if it was a painful one.
And when I consider the many things I’ve lost in this life… (I’ve been called the queen of reinvention) … I didn’t just stare at the wreckage (well, not for too long). I got busy. I started preparing the soil and I made something new grow.
Most of the upheavals we live through aren’t meaningless destruction. They are necessary endings, transitions, sacrifices, and transformations. Parts of life completing themselves so something else can begin.
And the next time it happens — because it probably will in some way, shape, or form — I’ll remember these ducks having the best day ever, and I’ll just get busy preparing the soil again.

Three years into curating and facilitating, ‘Meet Yourself’ nourishing, spiritual adventures for women… and I honestly feel so grateful for this calling. 🌺✨
These are not retreats to me. They are expansions. Expansions into the world around us, into culture, connection, adventure, healing, joy, sisterhood, spirituality… and ultimately deeper into ourselves.
This year’s Meet Yourself in Bali was filled with beautiful meals together, workshops, ceremonies, meditations, sunrise swims, heartfelt conversations, laughter, stillness, shopping adventures, temple blessings, sweet local animals, sunsets, ocean magic, and so many small unforgettable moments shared side by side.
I love witnessing a group of women from different walks of life become a Sistarhood by the end of the experience.
I love that so many of the ladies who travel with me return again and again!
There are honestly over 200 photos and videos on my phone from our 12 days together, but these are just a few little glimpses into some of the beauty, colour, transformation, connection, fun, and love we shared together during Meet Yourself in Bali 2026. ✨
If you feel called to join me for Meet Yourself in Bali 2027, or would like to learn more about this years Meet Yourself in Egypt or Meet Yourself in Transylvania (currently sold out, though you’re welcome to join the waitlist), PM me here or visit fionahorne.com (link in bio ⬆️) and sign up for my mailing list 🩵🙏🪷💫
