Tooqi brings a confident, calm, and reassuring presence to every classroom. She plays a vital role in helping students stay organised, engaged, and focused throughout each session.

Always willing to go the extra mile, Tooqi ensures that students clearly understand lesson content, expectations, and important information. She is also instrumental in keeping everyone informed about class updates, announcements, and key details, helping create a supportive and inclusive learning environment.

‼️Safety Warning: National Phone Alert
An AusAlert from the Australian Government is scheduled on 27 July to all mobile phones.

The national alert will be sent to mobile phones across the country and will sound loudly even if devices are on silent or Do Not Disturb, meaning the sound can’t be muted in advance.

Across the country, victim-survivors of domestic and family violence rely on hidden or secondary phones to safely contact support services, document abuse or plan to leave violent situations. A loud alert from one of these devices could expose this safety planning to abusers, escalating risk.

🌟 A very special surprise from !

During our Cultural Soup Lunch, we were delighted to welcome , and Lim from the Multicultural Media Centre (AMMC), who came with a very special Certificate of Appreciation for SLAC.

This certificate acknowledges 80 years of service, leadership and dedication to creating a safe, welcoming and inclusive space for people of all backgrounds.

AMMC holds high standards and is deeply passionate about diversity, inclusion and multicultural community connection, so this acknowledgement is especially meaningful.

It is a true honour for the SLAC team, our Committee and our volunteers to receive this recognition.

A heartfelt thank you to AMMC for this beautiful gesture and for your ongoing support. 💜

🍲 Cultural Soup Lunch at SLAC

Yesterday, as part of Neighbourhood House Week, the SLAC team hosted a beautiful Cultural Soup Lunch celebrating food, culture and community.

Everyone who attended had the opportunity to try delicious soups from different cultures, including borscht with a Siberian twist, Mexican chilli soup, Aussie fusion vegetable soup, and we finished with delightful Middle Eastern sweets.

It was wonderful to see people enjoying the rich flavours, colourful warm soups, good company and the welcoming SLAC environment.

A big thank you to everyone who attended and helped make the lunch such a warm and enjoyable community event. 💜
