πΏBUILDING THE BUNJIL NESTπΏ
As part of Reconciliation Week, every student and Homeroom at Killester College contributed to the creation of our Justice Bunjil Nest Installation.
Students reflected on the values of justice, hope, reconciliation and respect, writing a meaningful word onto a stick that became part of the collective nest. Together, these individual messages formed a powerful symbol of unity, belonging and shared responsibility.
Inspired by Bunjil, the Creator Spirit of the Bunurong people on which land Killester stands, the completed nest was featured during the launch of our Reconciliation Action Plan (RAP) and will now remain as a permanent installation in our Indigenous Garden Area.
A lasting symbol of our commitment to Living Justice, Living Peace. Walking together with First Nations peoples in truth, respect, and reconciliation as we continue this shared journey together.

Yesterday, our College community proudly launched the Killester Reconciliation Action Plan (RAP), marking an important step in our ongoing commitment to reconciliation, respect and meaningful action.
We were honoured to hear from Bunurong Elder Uncle Mark Brown, whose wisdom and storytelling reminded us of the importance of truth-telling, connection and walking together.
We also warmly welcomed special guests from Kildare Ministries and Wellsprings for Women who joined us for this significant occasion.
Thank you to everyone involved in creating such a meaningful and reflective launch as we continue our journey towards reconciliation together. π€πβ€οΈ

Year 10 Art students recently explored printmaking through the monotype technique, creating powerful mixed media artworks inspired by issues that are meaningful to them π¨π
Using acrylic paint, metal chain, air-drying clay, newspaper and coloured paper, students developed artworks designed to raise awareness of important global issues and communicate messages that matter deeply to them β¨
This project strongly connected with our 2026 theme of Justice - Serving with Courage, Leading with Kindness and Living with Justice. Through their art, students used creativity as a voice for advocacy, reflection and social awareness, exploring how artistic expression can inspire understanding and encourage positive change πΏπ
Unit 1 Art - Creative Practice

Inspired by Dorothea Lange, students photographed someone special using the Collegeβs SLR camera before printing their black and white images in the darkroom ποΈβ¨ They also captured the same image on their phones in colour, comparing traditional and modern photography techniques.
βοΈ Artwork 2
Using their black and white photograph as inspiration, students created expressive tonal drawings influenced by Vernon Ah Kee π¨π€
π¨ Artwork 3
Inspired by Rembrandt, students transformed their colour photographs into painted portraits, exploring dramatic light, shadow and portraiture ποΈβ¨
Our Year 8 Textiles
Students have created beautifully hand-sewn felt purses, showcasing both their creativity and growing sewing skills π§΅β¨

Over the past few weeks, I have had the pleasure of attending the Energy Breakthrough Club sessions held after school each Tuesday. What an inspiring group of students and staff!
Each week, students from Years 7β12 come together to plan, design, and build the vehicles they will power in the annual competition held in Maryborough.
I have been particularly impressed by the collaborative spirit shown across all aspects of the project. Students work together to secure sponsorship, redesign their vehicles to improve safety and comfort, and even construct storage solutions. It is a remarkable undertaking, supported so effectively by a dedicated and talented team of staff.
This initiative is a powerful example of the rich, multidisciplinary learning that is a long-standing tradition at Killester. I feel truly privileged every day to be part of such a vibrant and committed community.
Unit 3 & 4 Art
The purpose of this artwork was for students to draw inspiration from an artist and a specific artwork while exploring an issue that was meaningful and personally significant to them π¨β¨
Through this process, students were encouraged to express their ideas creatively while developing a deeper understanding of how art can communicate important social, cultural and personal issues ππ
