This week (June 14 β 20) is Refugee Week, and yesterday we celebrated together at our Fryers St campus!
This year's theme of 'A MIllion Stories' was celebrated through shared stories from students and staff members about their experiences and the challenges and assumptions faced by refugees in Australia, as well as in dancing, henna, and a delicious lunch.
As one participant reflected, being a refugee is part of their story, but it does not define who they are. π§‘

Earlier this month some of our Certificate IV in Allied Health Assistance (HLT43021) and Diploma of Nursing (HLT54121) students had the opportunity to visit the internationally renowned Body Worlds Exhibition in Melbourne! π«
The excursion aimed to deepen students' anatomical knowledge, and supported their learning with in-person observation of human and animal specimens. The life-like displays allowed them to connect their studies with real world anatomical structures at a deeper level than textbooks can provide!

β Well done, Cassidy! β
Last week Cassidy competed in an all-female VETIS WorldSkills competition showcasing Women in Trades, held within the Trade Tech Expo at the Melbourne Exhibition and Convention Centre.
Cassidy is one of our Building and Construction VDSS students, and was one of five competitors from all over Victoria creating a shoebox on the day.
She was nominated to compete by her trainers, and we are immensely proud of her for competing at such a high level!
Congratulations, Cassidy! π
