On Monday 11 March 1957 George Nelson of the GEORGE NELSON SHEPPARTON GIFT won the ‘Richest Mile in Australia’ at the time (as noted in this Bendigo Advertiser article).

This Monday is the 69 year anniversary of the win. George was 24 & running to buy a house & home for his wife and son.

It was the Bendigo Thousand in those days & as George’s daughter I have great memories of attending the meet over the years.

It was a fantastic meet here in Shepp last week for our fast growing George Nelson Shepparton Gift.
