I am so delighted to be appearing at Gerringong Library on Saturday 18 May with two of my favourite people in the world - my dear friends and fellow writers, Lisa Hannett and Kim Wilkins (who also writes as Kimberley Freeman).

We'll be talking about books, writing and the importance of literary friendships, plus the million dollar question of how we (somehow!) manage to juggle life and family and successful writing careers.

This is a FREE event, but booking is essential.

We holiday in Bermagui each year. It’s a place where I’m often the most creative with my poetry. This beautiful sail boat was anchored and refreshing their supplies.

We came to sail upon the sea
and found it’s beauty there
As all along the coast we saw
a landscape oh so rare.
The rocks they jutted high and low
The sands from brown to white
As deals and other creatures made
Their home as natures plight.
And as we sailed into the shore
encountering natures worst
We came across the human kind
wondering if we were cursed.
You see it’s natural wonders we seek
upon the seas we roam
And those humans, well they can stay onshore
We will leave them well aone.

I love little things you notice as you walk and this was one. Clever nature.

Creation Stories: Free conversations about creativity
Hosted by AWMP Director, Kathryn Heyman

The process of wrestling with a story teaches you how to wrangle your own creativity. It teaches you more than how to write, it teaches you what’s possible. The Australian Writers Mentoring Program hosts free online conversations with acclaimed writers, focusing on the problems they encountered writing their first and sophomore books, and how they solved them.

These sessions focus on craft skills, creative problems and creative self-management. If you’re interested in creativity (or reading!) these short conversations are inspirational. The conversations are free, online and short (half an hour).

Upcoming event: Creation Story with Mark Haddon
Our next conversation is on Tuesday 20th January at 8pm Sydney time, when AWMP Director and acclaimed writer, Dr Kathryn Heyman will be in conversation with bestselling author and mentor, Mark Haddon.
