The current FREE 3-year loan of 'A DELICATE BALANCE' to Bayside Council is ending in June, with the space to be left empty if the sculpture is not privately purchased and then gifted to Bayside City Council for the community. TAX DEDUCTIBLE COMMUNITY DONATIONS ARE WELCOME VIA THE LINK IN OUR BIO. We are excited to announce COMMUNITY BANK SANDRINGHAM has kick started the fundraising with $10,000 and has then committed to match each $ the community donates up to $15,000 to achieve the $40,000 project cost.
This piece has a mighty message that some may find confronting, a timely reminder of human domination over the world and the artist Bernie O'Gorman using the quintessential position of helplessness best described by Bernie himself: “The turtle is on its back, in a vulnerable position. We humans have the overall responsibility to Earth and the animals that occupy it, to get the balance right, otherwise the whole thing topples over and the animals become extinct."
