It is NEVER OK to leave your dog in the car – not even for “5 minutes while I duck into the shops”. In temperatures like today’s, the temp inside the car can quickly rise to dangerous levels, and your dog can start to suffer from heatstroke. It is always better to leave your dog at home where there is shade and plenty of water, where you know that they will be safe. There are NO EXCUSES.

Here are some tips to keep your pet as cool as a cucumber this week! 🥒

🐾 If you are going out, leave your mate at home with plenty of shade and water available!

🐾 Make sure multiple bowls of water are available - you can even add some ice to cool it down!

🐾 Do not walk your pet in the heat of the day, keep walks for early mornings or evenings when the pavement has cooled down!

🐾 Bring your pets indoors if possible!

🐾 Provide a shell pool filled with water for your dog to cool themselves down!

If you see a dog in a hot car, note down the vehicle's registration number and location and report it immediately to the RSPCA Cruelty Hotline on 1300 278 358 (1300 CRUELTY) or call WA Police on 131 444.
