Restorers Rendezvous

D now chuffed and pleased to be effectively finished, not that he will be ever finished. Took a little longer than anticipated, in that he bought a purportedly 'done up' engine, but he couldn't get it to fire, no matter what he tried. Eventually worked out that it had the wrong camshaft in it !!! At that stage , without trust, it was a case of back to square one, and totally stripping and rebuilding the engine himself. Now going nicely, and sounding the part too.

A has been regularly in over the last year, and beavering away on totally rebuilding his navarra from times past, such that he now knows every single part personally , which will stand him in good stead as he crosses the simpson desert soon, as he treks all over australia ( or till the money runs out or ...)

time's moved on again, but largely productively. A few are coming to an end, and workspaces are coming up after a full period.

L is quietly ( when not talking ) and capably working away on her project van. Reinforcing, sealing, such that it will accommodate years of travel in due course.

N is coming to end of Skoda problem solving journey. This time aided by an old frij, stool , block of wood, sodium hydroxide and phosphoric acid to clean a totally blocked DPF. Couldn't feel any exhaust exhausting. Hopefully will breathe better now, and perform as originally planned.

Blasts from the past. A few
that have moved from inside to outside, and are now doing the job of moving people around with pride and pleasure and distinction and uniqueness.......

T is back, after waiting 18 months or so for engine and trans separately to be shipped from America. A good price but lousy efficiency, from suppliers/shippers/ships/docks.....Engine fits! but numerous ins and outs of engine and cab while distances/tolerances were finetuned to please engineers and vicroads. Was pleased to get a figure close to 700 from the dyno.
Should surprize a few at the traffic lights in due course.

J used the dry ice to freeze floor insulation to enable easy removal of unnecessary weight. A few bangs and its off.

J came in originally to build a track car, an Excell, as an economic way of getting into legitimate hard driving, something that's politically incorrect nowadays, and profitable for the govt. This he successfully did, but has now decided to change focus and get into rallying instead. Is now well on the way. Car is now stripped and painted and getting cage installed, ready for more rebuilding and reinstating. He is a diligent and dedicated worker who gets things done.
